Im a single dude, and I really want a kid bad. I know that I have to find someone to make it with first lol. But losing my mother last month after always promising her a little granddaughter, I now feel under time constraints to move my life forward. is it possible for a dude to have baby fever?

I want a child more than my wife. I am 30 and she is 28, so that could be part of the issue.

I can admit I am a selfish person and for that reason choose not to have children. Almost all my friends my age that have children are miserable. I always hear the "I love my kids" line from these people but they are miserable having to be responsible 24/7. It's like they didn't think it through before having children. They're not a goldfish, they need constant attention. It's like some of these people didn't realize that.
Get a full time Nanny. You can still go where ever you want.

When our kids where small and we when on vacation we took the baby sitter. She was one of the family and had to pay for nothing.
She got a trip, vacation, meals and for a few nights of baby sitting. At the end of the vacation we gave her $150.00 per week

Kids haven't ever really been on my agenda. Back when I was married, I didn't really have any desire to have them and now that I'm not married, I really don't want them. That sort of responsibility would really get in the way of my general decadence. Just the thought of settling down and being all stable and shit kind of makes my skin crawl a bit.

I had one daughter as an oops in college. I got married at 37 and "we" wanted kids but I would have waited a bit more. She wanted to start pretty much right away and we compromised and had 2 kids.

They are definitely life changing
I can relate to the age issue- the wife and were almost 31 when we married, and tried for 5 years unsuccessfully to conceive. So we adopted and son #1 arrived when we both turned 36. Adopted son #2 almost exactly two years later. And it hasn't been the same ever since.

.
Amen to that - if we'd had to wait much longer for the first son, we might have given up and suppressed our maternal and paternal instincts. I did not want to be a new dad at the age of 40, although I know several men choose to do so successfully these days. The youngest graduated from high school when I turned 56 - I didn't think I'd survive much longer having an adolescent in high school.

Very much so. I have it pretty bad. I have my 14 year old son, and I love him to death, but he was 6 months old when I met my wife. We've tried for 12 years now, with no success. Now we have 3 babies in the fsmily that are 2 months old or less, so thats only intensifying the baby fever.

I've got 'em all over the country - they basically adore me and I bestow upon them the same sage guidance I depart to all the losers on here. Difference is my kids listen to my wise advice and are pretty much huge successes across the board.

Always great to hear when kids are able to succeed despite the fact that they were dealt a bad hand by being born to loser parents. Good on your kids.

A lot of truth to this. How many people do we know who are fully functioning humans whose parent or parents are train wrecks? Or vice-versa (great parents, fucked up kids). You do your best and hope it works.

That was very generous of you to pay her $0.89/hour.
