Rich Hill got pulled from a perfect game through 7 innings at only 89 pitches. What the fuck?

We don't have enough info here but it looks stupid from the outside.Mulva;1810336 wrote:Rich Hill got pulled from a perfect game through 7 innings at only 89 pitches. What the fuck?
The play though by Puig to end the 7th and save the perfecto... Awesome

Hill has had serious blister issues and Roberts said he had heat on his fingers meaning a blister was near.

SMH, Hendricks loses the no hitter in the 9th on a terrible 0-2 pitch. Maddon signals for fielders to go kill 30 seconds to help get Chapman loose. Joe West doesn't allow catcher to go to the mound and Maddon comes out, argues and Joe West tosses him. Chapman comes in to pitch and throws it 100 mph clearly in the zone and Fat Joe calls it a ball. He's a disgrace.

Yeah, he seems to be the ump with the biggest ego of them all and very confrontational.

It's Joe West -- the umpire most players, fans, etc. wish would just retire or drop dead on the diamond like that one dude who offended Schott by ruining her home opener.Ironman92;1810707 wrote:SMH, Hendricks loses the no hitter in the 9th on a terrible 0-2 pitch. Votto sitting at .414 since the All Star Break, only 6 times has a player hit .400 post-ASB since 1933.

Yeah, read about that in the paper sunday. Is that counting last night? The difference.....is that JV has made the adjustment and starting to pull and drive that inside pitch. I dont knowt he stats this year, but last year when he was getting out on that pitch there was a stat about how few foul balls he pulled. It was staggering.Azubuike24;1810889 wrote:Votto sitting at .414 since the All Star Break, only 6 times has a player hit .400 post-ASB since 1933.
He is one of the few guys who I will make sure to watch. If I am outside doing shit and listening on the radio I may come in to watch.
Also cannot dismiss his help of Hamilton. Apparently he has been tutoring him almost daily.

Hamilton got hot (with some Votto tutoring), Votto has been elite at the plate. Phillips has been a good guy at the plate and Suarez/Duvall/Peraza/Tucker/Schebler have taken turns being timely.thavoice;1810913 wrote:Yeah, read about that in the paper sunday. Iglesias has been incredible, Lorenzen pretty good....Straily and Finnegan have been solid.
Votto is the team MVP but they have definitely resembled a team of late. I believe they are 30-25 since the break.

One of my favorite players, wonder if his teammates touched his head afterward:

@AndySlater: Horrific news to report this morning, multiple people inform me that Marlins' pitcher Jose Fernandez was killed in a boating accident.
That sucks

38-16, 2.54 ERA, ERA+ 150, FIP 2.43....insane career numbers
He just turned 24, most baseball fans don't realize what was just lost.

I've always thought about getting a Fernandez jersey but just never did due to fears that he would be traded away (always seems to happen to me when I buy a Marlins jersey). But I purchased one today. I'm going to miss seeing him pitch. I don't watch as much baseball as I used to but if he was pitching I was going to try and find a way to watch it.
