Anyone who thinks the Browns would actually be players in FA this offseason is delusional. They are better off re signing their own guys (Schwartz, Mack, and Gipson).

I didn't expect them to be players but might expect them to go after some younger guys, coming off their rookie contracts. Assuming they were value pickups and not the price Detroit is going to pay Marvin Jones.

I thought jones made sense because of Jackson, and that we could use a WR with size. But not gonna QQ about "losing out" on him.

Sounds like Mike Wallace to Baltimore.

Steve Smith Sr.
Breshad Perriman
Kamar Aiken
Mike Wallace
Crockett Gilmore
Maxx Williams
Ben Watson

Flacco might lead the league in pass attempts.

Down to Atlanta and Cleveland for Alex Mack.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd rather keep Schwartz over Mack. Would be nice if they could resign both but I doubt that happens.

Same. Plus Mack is 30.

Agreed. I think these guys with their new metrics angle are going to be looking at stuff like this (Mack's age, etc).

Wisniewski wouldn't be a horrible get but, this may sound funny, I'm not counting out Irving yet. Sure, he looked like ass last year but he wasn't the Justin Gilbert type and actually owned up to how much he (Irving) sucked. I've heard that Irving loves the game and will put in the necessary work to get better. Hopefully he hit the weights hard in the offseason. This obviously means nothing if he comes back and ends up being a sack of shit but I'll be interested to see if he makes any improvements from year one to year two.

BTW....sorry about the comments earlier on this thread. Was out of line and I realize we can both be asses at times. :D

I fucking hate Sashi Brown already.

Continuing in a fine tradition of ensuring we lead the world in unused cap space while losing both our own free agents and making sure we sign no impact players from anyone else.

I am sure this is what Hue signed up for.

Just freaking STOP already. Most people, who have a clue, know this team is NOT going to be very good for a couple of years. They are blowing this up and very likely going YOUNG. Spending a shitload of money on FA's is not what these guys are going to be about. Besides, last time I checked, A doesn't start until 4pm.

The only thing with the Browns is...they will have a ton of cap space that is unused.

Why not sign a few guys to massively front-loaded contracts that have no impact on their cap availability in 2 years when they think they can truly "compete."

That would be my frustration, and was my frustration with the Bengals for a while. They would simply not spend the money and would give it out to players on the current roster just to hit the "minimum spending limit." They would then have a ton of freed up money that inevitably goes right into the owner's pocket.

I get that and they should spend but I know I didn't have any expectations of this group making any big "splashes" in FA. And who knows, they may be talking to their own guys (Mack, Schwartz) behind the scenes to get deals done with them?

That's been Jimmy's M.O since he got here.

Give lip service to "building through the draft" and then let your players walk in free agency because they get overpaid. Replace them with some 4th/5th round pick as part of some 5 year process that never happens, and then blow it up so you can repeat the spin cycle.

Gives you a perfect excuse as an owner as to why you never have to spend anything, and the cash just starts bursting out of your pockets.

Sadly many in this town haven't caught on to Jimmy's con yet.

It's not about "making a splash."

We have a shit ton of holes and only 1 1st and 2nd round pick with which to fill them.

At some point you need to use free agency to supplement positions with real NFL talent as opposed to sticking some 6th round pick out there when you have piles of money to spend.

I think most know he's a shitty owner. He pretty much admitted it himself after the season when he let go of Farmer & Pettine.

And you're losing your mind FOUR hours before any of these guys can even be signed. None of us have any idea what their plans are.

He's not a good owner and I do think the Browns are way too dead set on the philosophy of building through the draft as opposed to building in FA.

It is possible to turn a dumpster team around in one year but its certainly more risky from an ownership perspective.

I mean, this doesn't make much sense. Agents are getting the highest commission if they get their client the best deal. Regardless of the team. They have no incentive to single out a specific team for holding back other than to get it out there.

Of course they do. It's the Browns. They are easy targets. If they don't give them what they want, they are obviously going to bitch. Browns are not trying to pay their free agents what the market is willing too. So they complain. Boo hoo.

Can't be mad at the Mack deal, we offered more. He wanted to leave. Also don't give a shit about Benjamin.

Interested in what Shwartz gets and who we replace him with
