We need a pass rusher, but if the best (bosa) stays in the top 3 them take him. But if they're coming in and saying he's a 2nd rounder, I dont want to take a pass rusher.

Who is "arguing" with anyone? I was agreeing with HighRoller's post, which not surprisingly, went over your & like_that's head.

Agreed. We need more than just a QB. If we continue to throw "light in the pants" Benjamin out there as our #1 WR I don't see this offense improving. "Elfpartyboy" back there ain't Joe Montana. We also need a "thumper" at ILBer that can hit an opposing RB. If most of these scouts coming in with Smith & agland (assuming they stay the top 2) as projected late 1st/early 2nd rounder's, I don't want them grabbing someone with a top 2 pick.

Yet you replied, ironically giving value to the thread. Thanks br.

Now that we've seen JFF play a bit more, anyone interested in "giving him the keys to the kingdom"?

Let him grow and get used to the speed and game. I feel like a year as a starter and full off season in the same offense will at least let him become more comfortable with the game. His athleticism alone should help. People keep bitchingn about the qb,but until we actually start hitting on our first and second round picks, the team will be shitty regardless of who is at qb.

I think he's good enough that we can at least look at other pieces needed in the draft.

Nah.

Draft an actual NFL QB at 1 overall (or whatever pick we get).

69 QB rating last week is good enough? A QB that can't beat out Josh McCown is good enough?

What if this year plays out like '10, or '13, where the best QB's are Bradford/Tebow, and Manuel/Geno Smith?

Both top QBs thus far are ranked wayyyy better. What if it plays out like 2004?

Which is exactly what Bill Barnwell discussed in his article from Friday talking about the Raiders. It's great when you're in QB purgatory and you take a QB that looks like he'll work out (Carr), but you're stuck if you're in QB purgatory and draft someone in a year where there's no good QBs (citing the Jets and Geno Smith)

But when judging QB classes, can you really know without the benefit of hindsight? Legitimately interested in the answer to this question.

Then by all means take a QB, i've said that from the beginning. But if none of them separate, and elevate, i'm ok with passing on a QB this year.

But hell, we're in the very early stages, so who knows what will happen once the cycle kicks in full gear.

I think we stop with this caveat. Lynch/Geoff ain't Tebow or Geno Smith. Looking at NFL Draft past, it's more likely that there is at least 1 good QB than there are none.

Since 2007, it seems like every 3 years the QB class blows.

07- Russell
10- Bradford-Tebow
13- Manuel- Geno.

Guys, the qb won't do shit if we can't draft well in the first two rounds. Our team will keep producing first and second round picks that don't contribute or are off the team in a few years. Qb is definitely a need, but a bigger need is to actually hit on impact players early.

While I agree with that 100%, it's easy to play devil's advocate and say look at a team like the Jets that hits on early picks (Richardson, Williams, Pryor) but is stuck spinning their wheels because they haven't found a QB.

Honestly, to an extent I think you can.

In the 4 QB's i mentioned (outside of Bradford) there were MAJOR red flags, and none of the scouts were high on the QB's that year.

However, I'm not against taking one of these QB's as long as through the process the majority of the scounts/experts can agree on an approximate ranking. If they've all came to the same conclusion, and one of them is ranked in their Top 7, I think the risk is worth it taking one of the QB's. But, in the drafts I mentioned, again outside of Bradford, none of the QB's were ranked in the Top 25 prospects. That is where I take "issue" with the statements that you take a QB at the top because you need one line of thinking.

Realistically one of the QB's, probably Lynch looks to be rated as the top guy consensusly but maybe that changes through out the process, and most of the guys have him ranked highly, so at this point, I'd be ok with the Browns rolling the dice.

At the Same time, if Manziel plays well in these last two games against two playoff contenders, I'm ok with him being given he reigns next year, and filling other needs this year.

Pick one and them rank them in the order of least to most desirable (i.e. 1) Farmer 2) Manziel 3) Pettine).....you can only get rid of one of these guys (but not necessarily Manziel...you can insert "new QB" as your choice). If you can only get rid of one from the Browns organization or get a new QB, what is the order you'd put them in?

1) Farmer (no way you let him screw up another draft)
2) Pettine (he's just a bad coach)
3) Manziel/draft a new QB (I'd rather have a new QB but he's the lesser of the three evils)

I know that hypothetically this probably wouldn't work as a new regime likely dumps Manziel but what order would you have them in?

I'd prefer a new QB (if there's one worthy) but no way I let that buffoon Farmer screw up that pick.
