Thanks, Ironman. I now fully expect Arrieta to tie Schertzer with a second no-hitter this season.

Ridiculous the Cubs and Pirates have to play a 1 game playoff. Oh well.

Go Cubs!

Something tells me they should have started Lester....

He could throw a no-hitter and still lose [emoji3]

The same thing that would have me starting Liriano

I'll take:

NL:
Pirates over Cubs (mostly because I don't want to jinx anything, and party because the Pirates are good at baseball)

Dodgers over Mets
Pirates over Cardinals

Dodgers over Pirates

AL:
Yankees over Astros

Blue Jays over Rangers
Royals over Yankees

Blue Jays over Royals

World Series: Dodgers over Blue Jays

Pitching in LA is just too good. I'm a firm believer that the strongest pitching staff does the best in the post season.

The Atlanta Braves agreed during the 90s. MOST RUNNER-UP TROPHIES EVAR!

Actually, between 1941-1956 the Brooklyn Dodgers were 1 for 7 in World Series Championships.

And they were pretty good at hitting, but just average at pitching.

Your theory is blown.

I'd like to see Toronto or the Cubs win, followed by anyone that isn't the Cardinals.

I leave Keuchel in for the bottom of the 7th...I know he's tired but when he exits the Yankees confidence will go way up.

The reliever is an unknown performance in the waiting

Oh mighty jinx master, I need advice on how to feel right now.

On one hand, the road team won yesterday, so that's a bad precedent.

On the other, the more home-grown, smaller-budget team beat the "$$$$ don't matter, we'll buy a title" franchise, which is a good sign.

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TONIGHT?!?!??

There are many jinxes and reverse jinxes going on in this thread already. It will be interesting to see what prevails!!!

Last night, former Pirate Justin Wilson pitched 1.1 innings of shutout baseball! Things are looking great!

Wilson pitches for the Yankees. They lost. It's all over for us...

The world of jinxes and reverse jinxes truly is a tangled web.

Not sure on this one. Arrieta is better but playoff baseball is different. He hasn't pitched on the road in the playoffs.

I kinda am rooting for the Pirates because I believe they are the better team and are more likely to beat the Cardinals but it would be pretty good to watch the Cubs move on and maybe eventually win it all. The Cubs winning the WS would be amazing and I can't stand Cubs fans....just as I feel if the Browns were to ever win a SB.....I enjoy those historical happenings and watching them unfold (as long as my team isn't the team they are beating)

I don't think the Cubs have enough to be last year's Royals....but they are very similar to the Astros but the Pirates are way better than the Yankees.

Gun to my head:

Pirates 5
Cubs 4

I'm rooting for the Cubs for the simple fact that it would be awesome if they won the world series this year. (Back to the Future).

I guess I should add the worst jinx of all.

Last night, I had a dream where the Pirates fell behind 4-0, scored two in the seventh and two more in the eighth to tie the score and then gave up a run in the top of the ninth (Rizzo, solo shot) to fall behind 5-4.

And then I woke up, so I don't know how my dream game ended. But being behind in the ninth after making such a spirited comeback caused me to wake up at .65 IQQY today.

I feel the decision to sit Aramis Ramirez is not a good one even though I like what Harrison could bring in this type of game. Pirates have 1 hell of a PH from each side.

Oh well, dinner is digested and it's time to pre-game for realz now. I'll either be drunk and happy or drunk and ready to start another Great Fire of Chicago (but fortunately for that city, way too Tiernan'd to make it past the county line, let alone all the way up there).
