Basketball in high school. Our team was a D2/D3 school playing in a D1 league and we still were middle of the pack. We never won anything relevant as a varsity squad but we were competitive.

Also played soccer my freshman year but HATED the conditioning program so I gave up.

Football: lost in the regional semis by giving up a a 20 point lead late in the 4th quarter. It was a Brownsesque collapse smh.

Wrestling: As most on here already know (and give me shit for it) my career ended after losing in the state finals. I had a couple B1G and MAC offers. I flirted with the idea of continuing my career in college, but decided against it.

Cross country college - ended up missing qualifying and competing for nationals by one place.
Track college - placed second at the national "regional" qualifier in the steeple chase. Time wasn't good enough to get an auto bid.

Post college played B league "semi-pro" soccer. Pretty much was a team threw together of former high school players who knew each other from the clubs and one Brazilian dude visiting Ohio, who had skills but a ball hog. We didn't win once and got our asses kicked every game.

Football - 29-14 Loss to Buckeye Trail High School. I was a 3 year starter and a 4 year letterman for a team that won 11 (9, 0, 2, 0) games in the years that i played. More specifically, as a freshman i remember playing OLB in a game against our biggest rival. A freshman from that team carried the ball on a FB Dive and i met him in the hole. I put the best form tackle of my life on this kid, perfect wrap on the waist, my head leading him, and he bent me backwards and ran for 3 more yards. When he fell i had him by the ankles. At that moment, i knew i was not going to play football after high school.

Soccer - quit Freshmen year at Rutgers. My knee was done by then. I knew between my knee and the talent around me I probably wouldn't see the field. I then came back home and went to Ohio University and never touched a ball again until senior year inter murals. Learned my knee was actually dealing with playing again and still play most Sunday's in adult leagues.

Baseball- eliminated in sectionals my SR year

Golf- played on the club team at Ohio State and my senior year I choked away a first round lead at the National Championships at Firestone (2 round tournament). Shot 75 on the North Course in some absolutely terrible conditions on day 1, arguably the best round I've ever played, and then blew up with an 86 on the South Course in similarly poor conditions on day 2. Simply didn't hit the driver accurate enough and was scrambling all round.

Wrestling- Started wrestling in the 7th grade, wrestled b squad in my weight class through 9th grade behind a kid that went undefeated all 3 yrs, smh. I moved schools during HS, went to the first practice, wasn't feeling it and didn't go back.

Football- ended for me week 9 in the regular season after I broke my hand, went on to win the national championship (mount Union)
Basketball- losing in the sectional finals
Track- 4x100 relay got disqualified in district prelims after a guy marked his steps wrong. We were heavy favorites to win districts and more than likely would have been close to making it to state. 4x200 9th at regionals
Baseball- quit after sophomore year to run track

Just wasn't interested in attempting or just ready to move on to what college needed to bring?

Always wanted to go to Miami (grandfather, father, and brother all went there) and they don't have wrestling because fuck Title IX. If they had wrestling I would have given D1 wrestling a shot. I also wanted to have a college life, and from the college wrestlers I know, you definitely don't have a life, especially if you want to be somewhat successful. I didn't want to be in a situation where I went to a school to wrestle and I end up not liking the school. I didn't want to be in a situation where if wrestling didn't work out, I would be stuck at that school. It was a tough decision, but I don't regret it.

Buddy of mine from high school was an outstanding wrestler but severely injured his neck as a junior and ended his career...his son was a 4x state champ in WV wrestling for Point Pleasant....went on to Purdue and just made it through his freshman year and I guess that was about all he could take.

I would've been a terrible wrestler and the wrestling coach at my school was a colossal douche. He got into big trouble for having his wrestlers in the high school all night long in the hot tub/sauna room whatever trying to make/lose weight.

Anyone who can stick with wrestling in college is a special type of animal. Insane dieting, hard work and a huge social sacrifice for basically zero tangible rewards.

USA wrestling pays out to their medalists now. I think gold (world and Olympic) earns you 500k.
