Like I said before, I can see him signing one year deal after one year deal so he can maximize his income. I'll be surprised to see him sign any long term extension.wildcats20;1739820 wrote:@Chris_Broussard: Agent Rich Paul tells Cavs today LeBron will sign 2 yr deal with player option for 2nd year. $22.97 million 1st season, $24 mill 2nd year

After this offseason taking one year deals wouldn't be beneficial to him financially from what I understand.BR1986FB;1739825 wrote:Like I said before, I can see him signing one year deal after one year deal so he can maximize his income. I'll be surprised to see him sign any long term extension.

I think this is incorrect. He can get 35% of the cap to start with, with a (I believe) 7.5% increase per season. He doesn't continue to get 35% of the future cap, its based on the original year of the contract.like_that;1739828 wrote:After this offseason taking one year deals wouldn't be beneficial to him financially from what I understand.
It shouldn't be in his best financial interest to sign long term until the cap peaks.

2 summers from now unless NBA has revised its projection in the past couple months. Was around $67 for this year (now 70), 89, 108, then back to 100 for some reason.like_that;1739841 wrote:I thought the cap would peak after next season.
Although with a lockout probably coming in 2017 who knows.

Thankfully Lebron didn't go play in China for $50M/yr.
Glad to have him back.

He will sign a max contract extension in 2 after a new CBA is established. The players want more share of the revenue and I bet they get it so even with the cap increases Lebron can make a crap load of money with the new CBA.BR1986FB;1739825 wrote:Like I said before, I can see him signing one year deal after one year deal so he can maximize his income. his max raise is only 4.5% this year and 4.5% after the 16-17 season. His bird rights don't max until after the 2017 season. but true, if the cap keeps climbing by anything more than 7.5% after the 2017 season, he'd be better off signing 1 yr deals. I don't see how it can increase by more than that amount after the CBA blow-up in TV money next year though.Mulva;1739836 wrote:I think this is incorrect. He'll be 33 then, be interesting to see if Cavs give him a max at that point. Can't think of a 33 yr old player I'd give the max to now.sleeper;1739846 wrote:He will sign a max contract extension in 2 after a new CBA is established. I can think of one player and his name is Lebron James.Commander of Awesome;1739850 wrote:He'll be 33 then, be interesting to see if Cavs give him a max at that point. Can't think of a 33 yr old player I'd give the max to now.

if they still don't have a title, i'm saying no way. what you're getting from 34 on is not going to be better than what you will get in these next 2 years. Lebron's got a lot of miles on his body, and they are HARD miles, he gets beat up.Commander of Awesome;1739858 wrote:Congrats?

Maybe he'll continue to sign 1 and 1 deals until he gets to the Tim Duncan age where he starts signing 1 and 1 deals to help the team out.

or he may shut it down at like 35. and doesn't want a big guaranteed number hanging out there if/when he does? i've always thought he's wanted something more than just being the best NBA player ever. i think he wants to do like movies, music, philanthropy, other shit. and once he starts to feel like his body could start breaking down, he hangs it up for good.

Lebron will play until he's 40. No doubt.j_crazy;1739875 wrote:or he may shut it down at like 35. and doesn't want a big guaranteed number hanging out there if/when he does? i've always thought he's wanted something more than just being the best NBA player ever. i think he wants to do like movies, music, philanthropy, other shit. and once he starts to feel like his body could start breaking down, he hangs it up for good.
I think he will sign a 5 year maximum deal when he's 33 and after that contract is up he will sign a 2 year deal constructed in a way that gives the Cavs a chance to bring in another top tier player to chase another title.

What other EC teams you think are in contention to rep the east in the finals?
Other than Cavs only teams I see are Bulls (strongest contender), MAYBE Heat, Maybe Pacers [will get a full season from Paul George], and long shot Bucks.

I agree with your grouping.
It's really only the Cavs and then the Bulls. No one else really has a shot at it this year.

Surprised you omitted the Hawks but I think I agree with you they're not really contenders. Maybe they were last year at full strength but Demarre was a big part of their success, and I don't think Splitter moves the needle at all.Commander of Awesome;1739878 wrote:What other EC teams you think are in contention to rep the east in the finals?

Otherwise you nailed it. Bulls, maybe Heat, maybe Indiana, dark shot Milwaukee

Just the Cavs. Bulls won't do anything until they trade or cut D. Rose.Commander of Awesome;1739878 wrote:What other EC teams you think are in contention to rep the east in the finals?
