What a greedy dumbass. 80 million dollars is apparently not enough. I mean the mindset of these people is ridiculous.

It's kind of petty. $80M is more than fair and I think that's slightly above what he would get on the free market. Maybe some team will pay more but that team won't be contending for championships.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1739301 wrote:You don't pay a rebounder a max contract. If he wants more he can go somewhere else. If Lebron doesn't like it, fuck him too. I doubt he'd actually leave, but if he did, he wouldn't have any support outside of his Lebron only fans.

Absolutely. Cleveland will pay him more than any other contender will. Make him leave on his own.sleeper;1739310 wrote:It's kind of petty. $80M is more than fair and I think that's slightly above what he would get on the free market. I'm just saying, if Lebron is helping his boys get paid, the Cavs are handcuffed as far as bringing in supporting cast, and they DON'T win a championship? I think a lot of people will be pissed. It's all hypothetical, as they could win several, but if they don't win one?SportsAndLady;1739294 wrote:Take it easy. Slow down. This seems a bit extreme after RUMORS of Tristan Thompson wanting more on his contract.

Regardless of the salaries, people will be pissed if Lebron doesn't win one. I think the cash is a moot point because do the fans honestly care if Gilbert loses a bunch of money? Also, these aren't "bad" signings; these are quality players and if they are bit overpaid it doesn't affect the fans.BR1986FB;1739313 wrote:I'm just saying, if Lebron is helping his boys get paid, the Cavs are handcuffed as far as bringing in supporting cast, and they DON'T win a championship? With the cap, Gilbert isnt going to be losing money unless the team totally tanks and the arena is empty, and even with that I be he does ok with media deals.sleeper;1739314 wrote:Regardless of the salaries, people will be pissed if Lebron doesn't win one. Assuming we re-sign both TT and Lebron to their projected deals, the Cavs are going to well into the luxury tax for the next 5 years. There's also the repeat tax offender penalties that we will pay. Gilbert will no doubt lose money if you just account for the Cavs alone; although he owns the casino near there and might make out some additional profit if the Cavs win some championships.thavoice;1739316 wrote:With the cap, Gilbert isnt going to be losing money unless the team totally tanks and the arena is empty, and even with that I be he does ok with media deals.
Really hard to guess, but Gilbert won't exactly be rolling in profits like he could if he managed the cap better.

I guess I just don't understand the point of you saying that. Of course if lebron never wins Cleveland a championship, he's going to take some heat. But does anyone actually believe he's going to win zero championships with this team?BR1986FB;1739313 wrote:I'm just saying, if Lebron is helping his boys get paid, the Cavs are handcuffed as far as bringing in supporting cast, and they DON'T win a championship? And for all we know, lebron could have nothing to do with TT's contract talks.

I simply replied that no he wouldnt lose money on the cavs. Dont tell me you are joining with the two stooges.

On paper, yeah...it looks like they should win one, if not multiple, rings but they have two players (Love & KI) who aren't exactly the picture of health, year in and year out, so nothing's a given.SportsAndLady;1739332 wrote:I guess I just don't understand the point of you saying that. That isnt what you said. You said with the Cap...which implies a basic lack of knowledge on how the NBA and the NBA's Salary Cap work. He will be losing a LOT of money on it.thavoice;1739352 wrote:Not that hard to understand.

Now, he isnt gonna be broke, as he has other businesses on, and he will still turn a profit on the Cavs. But, he is definitely leaving a lot of money on the table by doing this, and in essence, losing a ton of it.

Give it to him. And everytime he catches the ball inside the protected area around the rim and dribbles before putting up a layup, take $1 million off of it.sleeper;1739270 wrote:It's coming out that TT wants the contract that Draymond Green got and that's what's holding it up.
Instead of 5 years $80, he wants 5 years $85/$90.

Should know to go against what you say. You are probably the only one on this site whom can get the better of me.
With that said, the answer is still no to sleeper, people arent going to care if he loses money. They just want championships and if this team can stay healthy there is no reason why they wont get one.

Honestly, if LBJ wants him to get paid, he should just let things play out. See if Thompson gets a max offer from another team, and if so, the Cavs will have no choice but to match it. If I'm the Cavs, I almost take the position that at this point, I tell TT that I match the best offer he gets. If his best offer is 5yr/60M or something, tough luck, that's what he gets.
If LeBron truly wanted him to "get the best he can", he would tell him not to sign, test the market to let all 30 teams have a shot, then go with that number. No bigger indication of value than that...

The NBA is fucking crazy nowadays.
We're talking a max contract for a player who 2 seasons ago, SWITCHED HIS SHOOTING HAND. It's madness.

So he doesn't know the number, but it's around $85mil, and Cavs offered him $80mil. So he's heard? LOL has Chris Broussard ever been right? He's acting like TT's offer wasn't in the Green territory. If the difference is legit $5 million over 5 season, Cavs need to stop playing penis flickers and just get it fucking done.
