Right, and I think we will use the MMLE on another player, if we targeted Mo, and Dunleavy I think they'd get the Vet minimum to ring chase for a year.

Dunleavy I like, the deal with the Spurs sounds too good to be true. I know Haywood's contract has value, but my gut tells me the Spurs don't perform like they do because they give up depth (which is what all three of the guys mentioned give you) for valuable contracts and no real substance.

I'm still bitter that the Cavs gave up Tyus Jones. I don't see how making that trade got the Cavs any better near term, or long term. Jones at least could provide an offensive spark off the bench. Oh well I guess.

They didn't want to have to spend money on an unproven rookie. Definitely in win now mode and every cent goes towards guys who are proven and can contribute now.

I agree the deal with the spurs sounds too good to be true, but it's not. Because they have to clear the space to sign Aldridge. So if Aldridge tells them he's in, then that deal is probably getting done.

Love is apparently gonna meet with the lakers. The lakers have already met with Aldridge and are gonna meet with Monroe and DJ, before love. Casting a big net. If love went to LA I would lose all respect for him.

I really hate the NBA FA period.

Dunleavy signed with the Bulls. Glad the cavs didn't get him. He turns 35 in September.

by your argument, what were kendrick perkins, brendan haywood, mike miller, and shawn marion on the team this year for. i never saw them play a meaningful minute all year. at least with Tyus Jones you know you've got someone with legs to at least get on the floor, worst case would be he doesn't pan out right away and he goes to the D-league to step up his game. Best case is he comes in right away and gives you an option off the bench who can play the 1, and gives you some semblance of a scoring threat. I love Delly, but he contributed so inconsistently on offense it was painful.

I wouldnt be so sure.. they're trying their damnedest to get Aldridge. They'll have to deal those guys to make it work.

Rumor of trading our 2 second rounders and Haywood to Miami for Birdman and Chalmers.

Tyus Jones sucks and is not what the Cavs need. This is a win now team.

Those players are useless but Lebron wanted them on the team(well Haywood is a trade chip and Perkins was just a filler for big depth). No chance Tyus Jones gets on the floor for the next 2 years on this team.

Terrible trade although I wouldn't mind Chalmers.

It would be kind of funny if next year's team included Mo Williams, Mike Miller, Chris Anderson, Mario Chalmers and James Jones...

and the 2 chumps we got later that night? they're lockdown wing defenders and lights out shooters? The team traded away a guy with somewhat of an NBA career for guys who will languish away in Germany or Turkey for the next 7 god damn years.

That they don't have to pay.

Why is this difficult?

What don't you comprehend about not having to guarantee a contract to second rounders?

Tyus Jones being traded had ZERO to do with playing ability or ability to contribute.

???? TyusJones would have been a huge addition to the team. By your logic, rookies never play in the NBA. Tyus Jones shot 89% from the free throw line. Tyus Jones willed Duke to a NCAA championship. People in the know say Jones, not Okafor was Duke's MVP in the tourney last year.

I understand the guaranteed money thing, but at 24, Tyus Jones would be 3 years and slightly under $4 million. Now you're giving up 2 second round picks for Chalmers, who is more proven, but essentially the same player. Chalmers' salary is 1 year for $4.3 million. Oh and lets not forget you have Birdman who is 1 yr $5 million. Neither will start, Birdman gives you nothing, and once you have him your now stuck owing just under $15 million to 2 back up centers.

Explain to me again how it makes financial sense?

I understand the reason it is this way is because LeBron is essentially the de-facto GM of this team, but there are better ways to accomplish what he wants than just "I liked playing with/against this guy. Go get him."

Chalmers and Jones are not the same player.

No one on here thinks the trade with the Heat is a good trade for the Cavs either.
