He was doing a nice job on Baker for the first 12 minutes or so. Offensively I completely agree with you.

In no way can you say you hate how he gets it done in March after bad regular seasons, when it almost always is correlating to a B1G title. Even if he losses 5 conference games, but still finishes 1st, that doesn't make it a bad year. You cannot win a conference like the B1G and call it such. The B1G/ACC/Big 12 and former Big East fall into that as well. Every year, winning that conference will equal a great season. His runs in March are pretty much correlated to that...
Well, yeah. Haha. I really hate Tom Izzo. I don't think it's as much Izzo himself as the style MSU plays. I find the excitement of it similar to what I imagine it would be like to watch other teams play with a bowling ball. Virginia can be added into that group as well.

I think that because Michigan State is so often prone to losing to a team like Texas Southern or Columbia or whomever it may be early in the season and getting off to rocky starts record-wise there is a certain perception that Tom Izzo doesn't get his team prepared until the tournament, regardless of whether the Spartans won the Big Ten or not. It just seems to happen every year. MSU just doesn't seem to play well at all outside of the Big Ten prior to March and it is a consistent thing. I guess I just get sick of seeing it, whether it's mostly perception or not.

I will agree they often lose to a random OOC team or play a odd game they shouldn't. Just think you aren't giving him credit for getting it done throughout the year. When his teams falter in the regular season, they USUALLY also falter in March.

Apparently, Izzo needs to pull out a few 30+ win seasons followed by immediately losing to a double-digit-seeded team in the NCAAs to really get the love, eh?

Oh, you. I pretty much threw you a lob on that one, though. Way to hit it out of the park.

This topic has been visited numerous times here over the years, but, relative to the adulation he so often receives, one would think Tom Izzo coached UCLA in the '60s.

I should have known KU would choke against the Shockers. Well, I did know, I just couldn't pull the trigger. I figured they are bound to beat the teams they are supposed to one of these years.

Dayton with a furious rally to reclaim the lead over Oklahoma. If Archie Miller advances the Flyers to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season, he has to leave for "greener pastures," right? That is if the right big-time program opens up. He likes to play fast and has a similar uptempo style to his brother. Vegas might be a nice home for him...

He'll have to kill Dave Rice first, though. He apparently has a contract that extends through his death.

Back when Tom Crean was going to be fired (how that talk has apparently been pushed aside is beyond me). Indiana fans/trustees/donors apparently had the short list of:

1. Brad Stevens
2. Gregg Marshall
3. Archie Miller

Not the least bit surprised Wichita is winning this game. But, didnt expect them to basically dominate it.

I saw this coming. Wichita State was in the FF two seasons ago and went undefeated last year. They really should have beat Kentucky last year too. That ratty Aaron Harrison bomb beat them.

And this Kansas team just isn't very good. They were never a threat to go to the final four. First time in a while even my ku bias couldn't make me put them in the final four (or elite eight )

If Texas is ever going to dump Barnes now is the time. Grab Marshall or Miller while they're still out there.

I also find that extremely odd. Although Indiana AD Fred Glass has voiced his "full support" of Crean, I can't imagine that "endorsement" is anything more than coaches speak. He can't be serious. If he is, then Indiana has fallen on harder times than we originally thought.

Crean did a nice job of building the bridge that got Indiana back into the competitive realm of college basketball again, but I agree that he's not the right man to lead it into the future. It's become evident that he's treading water that is far to deep for him to swim in.

Archie Miller or Greg Marshall would be excellent choices. I don't think Stevens leaves the Celtics before the Indiana job opens up next (my guess being this or next off-season), although I could be wrong. My personal hope is that Stevens hangs on in the NBA until Duke becomes available, but that might not be for another decade, so the timing probably won't work out.

I actually don't think Marshall leaves witchita any time soon. He has proven he can win there and make deep runs. He kinda has is made there

Best team in the state, yes. Best program? Now you're just trolling.

And all of a sudden the wheels have come off for Dayton. Can't even fathom the tedious passage of time that a Michigan State-Oklahoma game would present.
