Right I'm sure the hate for Duke was non-existent when they got blown out by Lehigh and Mercer.WebFire;1720652 wrote:I'm not talking about 1 time winners.
But you are right about those other things too.

Quit derping. By 1-time winner I mean the occasional champion. People hate on the consistent winners. Same reason people booed Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordon, or the New England Patriots, or the Yankees.sleeper;1720665 wrote:Right I'm sure the hate for Duke was non-existent when they got blown out by Lehigh and Mercer.

That little pull through he does with his arms definitely went unnoticed, but it's irrelevant. Scoreboard. Twice.Spock;1720805 wrote:Kaminsky was immune to calls in the first half of that game

Prescott,
You said Duke is now a win at all cost program implying they will bow to the one and done's year in year out.
While this year it appeared so, I do feel that K went all in with a specific group of kids that emerged in recruiting and that strategy will be far less the exception than the norm. Next year Duke has but one potential early draftee (Chase Jeter) and with the existing group in place I would surmise that K is probably going to let this year's group of players have their opportunity to excel and will add two more high profile recruits in 2016 to go with a great nucleus from the 2015 class.
It feels as if Duke will try to make a run every four years (K's words not mine) whereas Kentucky will try to make a run every year.
4 year run beginning in 1999
99-national runner up (four player exodus)
00-regional final (one player exodus)
01-National Title (one player)
02-Regional Final (three player exodus)

This is my theory on how Duke will recruit in the coming years.

Duke was once one of THE premiere academic schools(Although standards were lowered to admit desired recruits and classes were offered that kept those recruits eligible) with a great basketball team. Duke is now officially a basketball factory with academics a token gesture for b-ball players. Duke U: America's new #1 One and Done University

If education is a token gesture for basketball players at Duke, what does that make education for athletes at UNC?Prescott;1721794 wrote:Duke was once one of THE premiere academic schools(Although standards were lowered to admit desired recruits and classes were offered that kept those recruits eligible) with a great basketball team. Duke needs to own what they have become----a OAD basketball factory that values winning above all else. AND, in today's climate, that is OK------Just own it.

Fair enough, I had you pegged from my memory as one of a few UNC fans on here (along with Wildcat). Any idea why I would think that? Maybe a strong dislike of Duke?Prescott;1721856 wrote:That would be true if I had ever claimed to be a UNC fan., which I haven't because I am not a UNC fan.

Not sure Prescott can even be called an OSU fan, though that would be who he cheers for.
Just the definition if someone who hates a team more than they like their own, it seems.

To clear things up, I am a huge OSU basketball and football fan. I have read about the likes of Robin Freeman, Mel Nowell, Jerry Lucas, and John Havlicek. I have watched the basketball Buckeyes intently since the days of Curtis Wilson, Dennis Hopson and Brad Sellers. I know about the Minnesota massacre and that Frank Howard(of baseball fame) was a pretty good basketball player. If that is the worst kind of fan then that is what I am.Laley23;1721867 wrote:Not sure Prescott can even be called an OSU fan, though that would be who he cheers for.

My hatred for Duke has lessened a bit since they won. No longer can their fans adopt a holier than thou attitude. Duke is now the king of the OAD's and school that values winning above all else just like everybody else.

If you remember, there was guy on the other board that was the worst kind of Duke fan. It was he who fueled my hatred for Duke. The Duke fans this on board can be annoying, but they aren't insufferable twits like he was.
For the most part, I've stayed away from Duke this year because there isn't thread started on an hourly basis.
I should have mentioned that I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I was educated at tOSU. The sports fans in my family are ardent supporters of tOSU.Growing up in that environment left me with little when it came to selecting a college team to support.
