And the other argument is also weak. I'd stop short of calling people hypocrites who strive to be better but fail - that's why there's confession/forgiveness/support groups. Just because people are weak or make mistakes doesn't mean they can't demand more of themselves and others. And divorce is something in the past, whereas gay marriage is commitment to an ongoing sin (and if they're marrying in a Catholic church, then the marriage was annulled or they've been forgiven). You may disagree with that, but all the false equivalences in the world aren't going to make it a contradiction of faith.
This is the ultimate "get out of jail free card." The argument is that being gay (even though sexual attraction is not a choice - thanks God!) and accepting your attraction and acting on it forever rather than pretending to be straight like Michelle Bachman's husband (this is a joke) constitutes "living in sin" rather than just a "whoopsie sin" - you know like, cheating on your wife and molesting your sister.

I'd like to see that reasoning applied to abortion by the way. "You know we all fall short of the glory of God and you know Sally did that one time when she had an abortion and we know God forgives her."

It is a built-in sword of damocles for gay people. Because their "sin" involves their entire being they are "living in sin." But a straight guy who watches porn all the time, masturbates regularly and cheats on his wife a few times only engages in "temporary falls of grace and gets God's forgiveness" if he repents every time he whacks it.

66% of Christian men admit to watching porn every month...In other words 2/3 of male Christians admit a committment of ongoing sin (to use your words). Where is the mass movement of Christians against this?? Oh wait - these guys who whack it to porn every month say a prayer afterwords so they are all good.

Frankly it is so utterly stupid that humans even talk about these things in this day and age it is mind numbing. Bring on the rise of the machines so it will stop.

For black people! LGBT folks were still treated horribly for many years and are finally getting equal protection of the law in 2015. And of course the oppressors are making a few last desperate hail mary's.

Divorced people trying to get married and having it sanctioned by the state is the institutionalization of "sin."
Divorce is is sin?....maybe to the Catholics... But go ahead and generalize to all the Christian sects just like you do with the fundamentalists.
Where are the christians trying to make websites like Ashley Madison illegal because it is an "affront to their religion" to use your language?
There are Christians who rail against such things.... And then there is ABORTION.

"So much wiser it would have been,, to have just called it "balloting" instead of "voting," and sidestepped the issue with all those cantankerous men who didn't think women should vote....But that's not how politics works with the left, does it?"
if the rights are the same who cares if women "ballot" and men " vote" if it helps to make acceptance to the process easier?

Matthew 5:32
but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Yes divorce is a sin if Paul's condemnation of homosexuality means homosexuality is a "sin."

There is no mass organized christian movement against Ashley Madison. Fringe movements maybe but there is a fringe movement for everything in free societies like ours.

According to Christianity all sin (save the one sin that cannot be forgiven) separates us from God equally. Whacking off and Murder (And Christians claim to think Abortion is morally equal to murder but they introduce laws that would punish it with the same sentence as illegal gambling) are both equally morally wrong in Christianity.

Of course this utterly absurd and goes against our moral intuitions hence why you - a Christian - capitalized ABORTION because you think it is worse in your heart even though your religion does not.

^^^logic fail....there are some reasons that divorcing is a "sin" ... Therefore, all divorces(and the institution of divorce) is a "sin".

I do want to thank you for proving what I said earlier about politics these days being all about winning and sticking it in your opponents face... And you used the perfect football analogy.

Lol this really did get off topic. Can we get that part of the thread split into its own thread? I don't really want to continue detailing the hillary thread

No; she knew the job requirements before she accepted the job, and the job requirement did not change after she accepted it.

LATEST REVIEW BY two intelligence agencies backs up an earlier conclusion that at least two emails on Hillary Clinton’s personal server contained information that was considered ‘top secret.’
