Ted Ginn is the fastest college player I've ever seen on a football field in my life. He was simply amazing on punt returns, especially, with his ability to cut and then instantly be in high gear.
Those abilities have not translated, for the most part, to the pro game.
So his greatest asset is something the Browns simply don't need -- they have Cribbs.
If he were a better receiver, I'd have no qualms making a move to get him as part of an effort to stretch the field -- but how about we figure out who is actually throwing the football (and how well) before we even speculate any further?
Ginn may yet be salvageable with the right coaching...but let's get our QB settled first.

So what games of MoMass have you watched to determine that he's a "better overall" wide receiver than Ginn.devil1197 wrote:Ginn is not better than MMass. He may have more overall athleticism, but MMass is a better overall WR.pkebker wrote:Sarcasm? Umm didn't we just have a gm who liked to trade draft picks, and we didn't draft until the 4th round one year. So we've seen this as bad practice, so not sure why your using sarcasm, because obviously we've had front office personnel trade away picks before...SportsAndLady wrote:No way are you serious??pkebker wrote: I hate the idea of trading NEXT years first round pick. If they do that, then when next year rolls around, they'll be missing their first rounder
On another note, Ginn wouldn't be that bad of an option at WR (If we got him for cheap). He'd be an improvement over what we have now...a small improvement, but an improvement none the less...
Ginn needs to find an OC that will use him properly in certain formations. They need to find a way to use his speed instead of trying to force him into being a true WR.
To be honest, neither are anything special. Neither have had a QB to get them the ball, and only one of them runs good routes (Ginn). To say that Mo Mass is better than anybody other than the leagues worst #2 receiver is quite ignorant. Mo Mass ran too many bad routes, dropped too many passes/against his attempted passes, and overall just gave a disappointing effort. He has potential, yes. But he has a LOT of work to do. I think Mo Mass could become a solid #2 in the NFL. But seriously to say that a guy that didn't do shit until the 2nd half of his rookie year is better than a 3 year vet is ignorant.

What? That's one of the HUGE knocks on Ginn. He's NOT a polished receiver and is a piss poor route runner. He's great in a straight line but other than that? Forget it.DaBrowns41 wrote: only one of them runs good routes (Ginn).
MoMass isn't going to make anyone forget Jerry Rice but he IS a more polished route runner, even as a rookie, than the 3 year vet Ginn.

Did Cleveland fall asleep at the wheel not trying to aquire Brandon Marshall. He's gonna take alot of coin, but also is a stud. And for a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year, seems like somewhat of a bargain. Where oh where are we gonna snag a #1??????

They will NOT take on problem children. Part of the reason that Dez Bryant has already been removed from their draft board.miller45452003 wrote: Did Cleveland fall asleep at the wheel not trying to aquire Brandon Marshall. The Browns do need to bring in some type of veteran receiver. Personally I think Torry Holt would be a great addition. He showed last season that he still has some game left and would be valuable in helping out MoMass and Robiske....wouldn't help out the lack of speed problem however.

I still would like to see Jacoby Ford in the 3rd round for that speed receiver.

i'm with you on bryant but with marshall i look at it like this:
he's successful at this level and you know the kind of BS crybaby bullshit he brings.
with bryant, he MIGHT be successful and has some issues that COULD be damning in the future.
it's risk reward. but the key is with marshall, you know the risks and the reward. with bryant you don't really know either.

The problem that teams are afraid of with Bryant is whether he will show up for work on a daily basis. He's had issues with being late for meetings, etc. He has the same agent as Crabtree so it's likely whoever drafts him will put a "diva clause", like they did with Crabtree, into his contract stating that he will need to take part in at least 90% of team activities.

You can't argue the stats he put up. But he didn't beat the good teams.BR1986FB wrote: http://cle.scout.com/2/962256.html
I'm just not sure on his leadership ability.
So no, I definately wouldn't take him at 7.

This may be Florio overanalyzing but one of the knocks on Clausen is his leadership...
