Don't want Fargus...No way we should sign him. I would hold back on Delhomme...I'd wait and see a little longer to see if anything can come out of the BQ trade or whatever and go from there...I do think that sooner or later the Browns will probably sign Delhomme...like it or not. Let's just hope McNabb gets landed somehow

Exactly why does it warrant a WTF?miller45452003 wrote:NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WTF???????????????????september63 wrote: After his visit today at Brownd headquarters. Is it your money that Lerner and Co. are using?
I never understand why people complain about bringing in players that won't cost us anything other than someone else's money.
Do you honestly think that Holmgren is going to stop the QB hunt just because he got Delhomme?
These guys either pan out, become depth, or get cut by the start of the year. All that was wasted was some uber rich guy's $$$.

Actually, if think that since this is the 2nd qb that they have brought in.....they will move on to other areas of focus.

But they are actively shopping Quinn.wes_mantooth wrote: Actually, if think that since this is the 2nd qb that they have brought in.....they will move on to other areas of focus.
So if they get rid of Quinn that means either:
1) They are still pursuing an avenue to trade for a legitimate starter
2) They will end up drafting/trading for one of the top QB's in the draft.
3) Use the two guys picked up as stop gaps.

quinn is no where near accurate enough to run a offense of any type that relies on a short passing game. and this offense they call the west coast is basically what bill walsh learned coaching under paul brownWriterbuckeye wrote:If they have shored up the OL and the defensive backfield a bit more then, yes, I'd feel okay.buckeyes_woowee wrote:Having Quinn, Wallace and Ratliff would make you confident?Writerbuckeye wrote: I would hope no trade with Carolina (involving Quinn) would happen until they get the QB situation finalized in some manner.
Having only Wallace and Ratliff would not make me confident going into the season.
Wallace and/or Quinn could "manage" a game that was more about short passing and running (West Coast).
In fact, if he isn't traded (I'm neutral on this issue), I'd be very curious to see if Quinn could run a version of the West Coast offense since his strength is having decent touch on the ball and checking down.

I kind of think it is option 3 for this year. There really isn't a lot out there and the draft is pretty weak.
They may be shopping Quinn, but everything that I have read...there is little interest, especially if the Browns are asking for an early round pick.

I agree but I still think they will dump Quinn. I don't think Holmgren sees a future for him and may just take what he gets for him.wes_mantooth wrote: I kind of think it is option 3 for this year. There really isn't a lot out there and the draft is pretty weak.

I expect them to pick up another QB also sometime if they do go with Delhomme.

All I'm saying is you might as well keep Quinn and give him a shot rather than signing an over the hill 35 year old QB that is no Brett Favre. I mean come on, my money or not, this is fucking terrible!! How is this an upgrade over what we had? Stop gap or no stop gap, this is bad! Quinn has a friendly enough contract that is/was all incentive based and is also 10 years younger than Delhsuckme. Give me DA back over this slouch any day. And I don't want to hear about his tommyjohn surgery and his shoulder blah blah blah bs. Hang it up Delhomebody!!

There better off if there wanting an early round pick, just starting hinm this year and give him the whole year to see what he's got. If there getting offered garbage for him this year, then why not give it a shot as our QB? If it doesn't work it, fuck it, cut him next year. This is assanine looking at Delhommewes_mantooth wrote: I kind of think it is option 3 for this year. There really isn't a lot out there and the draft is pretty weak.

Yeah, I think the signing of Delhomme...if it happens, will be the end of the Brady Quinn era(if there was one). I am a bit surprised, since his contract was team friendly.
If they can just get by with Delhomme and have a great draft, I really think that puts them in a great position in 2 seasons. That is, unless there is a work stoppage.

Not really, I don't complain if someone is willing to give a person a shot.SportsAndLady wrote:Umm, because I don't want my favorite team to bring in bad players?devil1197 wrote:I never understand why people complain about bringing in players that won't cost us anything other than someone else's money.

Its not on my dime and these guys either pan out or don't see the field, its not that hard to comprehend.
Now, if I was paying for it then no I wouldn't have even called Delhomme.

Cleveland wants a winner, and Jake D. is certainly not Joe fuckin' Montana. He's a stop gap, plain and simple.

Anybody that thinks this is a good move by bringing him in here, obviously don't know a whole lot about football. Plain and simple, that is not the kind of stop gap we need. I'd MUCH rather let S. Wallace be that guy.

You make it sound like Delhomme is coming in and will become the QB immediately?
The reality is, Cleveland is exploring any and all options. If our owner is willing to pay guys to bring them in to COMPETE for the job then that is fine.
Nothing is getting handed to Delhomme other than some money and a small chance at stepping on the field for the Browns.
These are flash in the pan guys. But the main difference is Holmgren isn't going to rely on these guys to produce. That's why he is bringing in multiple options which there is nothing wrong with doing.
End of story.

This team was simply in the shitter personnel wise. I mean shitter.
Of course Jake isn't the answer, everyone knows that.
Most also realize Rome wasn't built in a day either.

Exactly. We know he isn't going to be the main answer, but there is nothing wrong with paying guys (not our money) for a shot at proving themselves.ytownfootball wrote: This team was simply in the shitter personnel wise. I mean shitter.

if they offer him peanuts to come to NO he's coming here
If I'm the browns, I want to do what miller said. try to get a 2nd or 3rd out of BQ, if not let him give it one more shot. he's only played in like 15 games and only started like 10, all of them for much shittier versions of a browns team than what he'll be working with next year. call me crazy for not wanting to call him a bust yet. i don't like the seneca wallace thing, but i get it. just like i didn't like the DA deal, but understood he had to go.

If he thinks he has a better chance at starting/playing with Cle he would sign there over being a sure back up in NO. Even if he calls there home. He still thinks he can play, so he'll go where he gets the best chance to play.

I'm hoping none of these arguments matter. Delhomme is heading to New Orleans for a visit, although I'm sure there only gonna offer him peanuts. Hopefully we only offered him sunflower seeds without the seed and they out bid us.

I can definitely see Delhomme signing with NO...1) He'll be close to home, he's from Louisana 2) He'll be a pretty good backup to Drew Brees 3) Payton wanted Delhomme when Payton was at Dallas, so I could see NO bringing him in to back up Brees. Mark Brunell is a FA and probably close to retiring. Delhomme wouldn't have a bad gig if he signed with the defending superbowl champs.

Are there anymore defensive guys who are FAs the browns are/were interested in? Ariz is supposed to bring in Larry Foote and after him maybe Joey Porter...Both would be really good additions.
