Romo, Ryan and Rivers are amazing regular season QB's. They all rank top 8 in active leaders for almost every category. They all stink in the playoffs. The criticism should be equal.
Romo gets more national TV games than those two put together during the course of any season, so his fuck-ups get magnified. Romo also had a couple of those "WHAT THE FUCK!!??!?"-style blunders early in his career, so the "Romo = clutch fuck-up" reputation got created and magnified. Add in that Jerry Jones Dallas tends to go for a circus atmosphere at most times and they get magnified even more, especially when you get things like Terrell Owens bitching to the media that Romo's gf (Jessica Simpson at the time, I think?) needs to stay home because she's creating a distraction.

All 3 probably would get treated equal if they were on equal footing, but when one is at Dallas, he's not on "equal footing" with the others.

Better do some research. Dalton's contract is one of the best out there. They can essentially cut off 80% of it if they cut him after this year...it was very backloaded, designed to make him earn the deal...

"Among the 15 highest-paid quarterbacks who have played this season, it's worth mentioning that Dalton has the worst QBR, completion percentage, touchdown-to-interception ratio and passer rating.
Dalton's also the only quarterback in 31 years to have a passer rating under 5.0 in a single game. No other "elite" quarterback in the last two generations has done such a thing."

From about halfway through last season. We'll see if he ends up earning it. He's playing well now, but he's put a few good games together before, so time will tell if he can keep it up. Good thing he has a ton of weapons around him, unlike Elite QBs, I feel AJ Green makes Andy Dalton more than the other way around.

Dalton and Kaep have among the most team friendly deals for the reason that Azu said. It's a true "earn-it" deal, and a win-win for everyone. If Dalton is still around, it's because he's earning his contract. Bengals can get out easily if they don't think he is.

San Fran must be ecstatic to have Kaep on a team-friendly deal right about now. He never really progressed after a very strong start to his career and, if not for RG3, would have made the quickest turnaround from "WHOA! Did you see that play?!?" to "WHOA! What the hell is wrong with him? He sucks!" in recent history.

I'd take him in Cleveland.

I'm not confident Dalton earns his contract either, but given what he was, he was rewarded with a pretty standard contract for a QB. However, it was structured in a way that if he blew up (in a bad way), the Bengals could get out of it and not lose much.

This is almost all but irrelevant at this time though. Barring a major collapse this year, Dalton won't be cut, even if he stays where he has the last few years. It's just not the way the Bengals do things. They are very unlikely to make a big move like that.

At some point, the playoff failures in the 513 need to lay at the feet of Marvin Lewis.

Take it from a dolphins fan. there are worse things in the world than a 1st round playoff loss. tannehill got basically the same deal as dalton and it also has the poison pill where they can drop him and only pay $6.9 million after the 2016 season. So the deals are similar, lets look at what the teams are paying for:

Tannehill's record as a starter is 24-27. He averages 35 att/game and 6.8 yds/att. His TD to int ratio is 1.5:1, he has never had a winning record as a QB. His average passer rating is 84.1, while his QBR is 48.
Dalton's record as a starter is 43-23-1. He averages 33 att/game and 7.1 yds/att. His TD to int ratio is 1.6:1, he has never had a losing record as a QB, and has made the playoffs every year. His average passer rating is 86.7, while his QBR is 56.1.

Even with the shitty performance in the playoffs, Dalton is the better QB.

That just might show Dalton has the better team around him more than anything.

Dalton definitely has the better team. However, the criticism didn't let up when literally his entire group of weapons was out last year.

It's clear Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert are his #2 and #3 options, and they both missed the whole year. AJ Green and Gio Bernard also missed 3 games. If you take his top 7 targets from a year ago (Green, Bernard, Eifert, Jones, Hill, Gresham and Sanu), they missed a combined total of 39 of 112 games.

This year, there are no excuses.

only had hill and bernard and aj green for 2 years. stats are stats. the playoff part yeah, he probably had better supporting casts, but they didn't make the playoffs in spite of dalton's play.

I know a lot of the analytics say Tannehill is a good QB but I think he's overrated. He's not bad but he's certainly not close to an elite QB.

He's really good but our line is trash and has been for his entire career, he literally has one second to make a read it's pathetic. They are such a huge disappointment but I'm used to it. He's been sacked more than anyone over the last three years, and that doesn't even begin to tell the story.

Funny, St. Louis beats Seattle and Arizona already.

Todd Gurley looked like an absolute superstar today. Guy was a man among boys out there against one of the top 5 defenses in the NFL.

He was great. Arizona gave that game away at the end 2nd and 2 at the 43 and they throw it 3 straight fucking times.

Was just talking with a buddy about this today. Kickers used to be automatic from anything closer than 45, now its seems to be 10 or less kickers in the league where you can be confident when they lineup.
