Lol. Marriota plays in a gimmick offense designed to make the defense confused and take advantage of them being out of place and unprepared. He has probably never read a defense or made an audible himself. His throws are all 1st read because they are such a fast paced team he never needs a 2nd and 3rd.
I have no clue if he will learn any of this, but at the moment...no way are they even compatible. Winston can do almost everything an NFL QB needs to do coming out of college. Now he just needs to perfect them and get his act together. But pre-snap and progressions, which IMO is most important coming out, he has been doing for 2 years.

I don't think Classy can comprehend any of that. But good post, I agree.Laley23;1705151 wrote:Lol. I can comprehend it. What I am saying is Winston made bad decisions constantly all season, 15 INTs is incredibly high and a huge red flag for me. Florida was the best D he faced all season and struggled mightily against them, it was essentially pick city all game. He's going to face secondaries in the NFL where the window closes twice as fast and you're gonna tell me the guy who threw the most picks on passes of 15+ yards is going to be a good NFL qb? IMO he's Sam Bradford at best
On the other hand we heard the same complaints Laley is making about Cam Newton a few years ago and I guarantee Browns fans would kill to have him at the QB position. He'll learn how to make those reads pretty quick, the guy is pretty intelligent. However his accuracy and speed are ridiculous

Winston is a clear cut number one pick in my eyes but his great first season he was bailed out a lot by kelvin

oh please the same scouts a few years ago said Cam Newton was the third best QB behind clear cut Blaine Gabbert and slightly behind Jake Locker. If scouts were right more often than not then the Lions and Browns would have been in a few Super Bowls already because of the can't miss high draft picks they tookAutomatik;1705229 wrote:We have a member who is on par or greater than NFL level scouts. Kiper had him going 11th I believe and shut the fuck up Automatik. If you watched the Rose Bowl and really believe the best QB was the one with the gold helmet you're nutslike_that;1705238 wrote:The same scouts that said cam newton was going to be the #1 overall pick?

Who the fuck really listens to Kiper? LOL
One game does not make or break a potential NFL QB. Your logic and basic thought process blow my mind.

I watched the Rose Bowl and was really impressed with Oregons offense. MM didn't do ANYTHING in that game that translates to the NFL. And Kiper is a moron who has been proven to bump players of he is friends with their agents and vice versa. He does it for clicks, not for anything else. Cam was a clear cut #1 pick that year.

So you truly believe a guy who had 28 TD's and 15 picks in the worst power conference in college football will be good in the NFL? I'm sorry I understand he did not play in a pro offense but his decision making, accuracy and speed are unbelievableAutomatik;1705251 wrote:Who the fuck really listens to Kiper? LOL

Where did I say that? I could easily seeing Winston bombing in the NFL because he's a jackass. You're missing the point...not surprised.
I'm talking QB SKILLS that translate to the NFL. How can you not grasp this? Take your stats and conference BS and put it aside.

Actually in Kipers final Mock Draft he had Cam going #1 overall. But you are correct on his big board he had Cam at #15 overall 1 spot behind Gabbert. Here is what is said about Newton in his final mock in 2011 "Is he the top player on my Big Board? No. But it's hard to blame a franchise in Carolina's position for falling in love with the extremely high ceiling of Newton. As I said when I projected him here before, there are immediate needs, and there is a decision that you believe will change the direction of your franchise for years to come. While I'm not certain Carolina isn't still listening for the right offer for this pick -- if you've heard me at all lately, you'll know I see this is one of the more unpredictable top 10's I can ever remember -- if the Panthers really see Newton as a transformative player who can be both a Pro Bowl quarterback and face of the franchise who draws a lot of buzz, they make this pick. If talent alone was all they were concerned with, Newton would be an easy choice. But this pick also requires a belief in his development and maturity. Will the Panthers have the patience to let him develop on the bench?"Classyposter58;1705247 wrote:Kiper had him going 11th I believe and shut the fuck up Automatik. But most scouts had Cam as the best QB of the bunch in 2011 and pretty much everyone knew he was going #1.
I'm not going to get on bashing you for your opinion by thinking Mariota is better but pretty much no one thinks that he will be better than Winston in the NFL on the field. All of Winston's questions are about his off the field stuff and maturity similar to Newton.
Also Sportchampps you didn't watch FSU much. Kelvin was great obviously but Rashad Greene bailed Winston out way more than he did in 2013. Winston this year seemed like he tried to do to much because he knew his defense wasn't as good as last year.

I think Mariota will eventually be a good NFL QB, but it will take some time. Winston is definitely more ready right now to start on an NFL team, and it isn't even close.

Neither Winston or Mariota is worth trading up for or drafting in the 1st round. I'd prefer to not draft a known rapist either, so Mariota or bust for me but only in the second round. I don't think this crop of QBs this year contains anything worth a first round pick.

Haslam says the Browns won't be big spenders in FA. Don't we have to spend most of the cap money?

Unless Aaron Rodgers is on the market, I'm cool with not being big spenders. I like the talent on this team but our QB situation is god awful.se-alum;1705274 wrote:Haslam says the Browns won't be big spenders in FA. Don't we have to spend most of the cap money?
