He's an .800 OPS, top 5 defender in RF. Also, he's still signed to a friendly deal until 2017. So, unless you feel that at age 27, he's on the decline, I don't know what to say.

Am I opposed to trading him? No. Am I opposed to trading him to the Padres? Yes. I want to team to be competitive in 2015 and make a few moves that could facilitate that. Not trade one of their more valuable assets to a team where for the life of me, I can't find anything they have that can make the Reds better in 2015.
I get all of that and agree with most....but if Bruce has a poor first half his value will go down the toilet.

Does anyone on the Reds non-pitcher ever recover from injury?

Apparently the Sox have money to spend...

Sandoval, aka Kung Fu Panda, is also signing with Boston. 5 years, $100 mil.

Anyone know how much they get in TV rights for the local market? Think they said the Angels and Dodgers, Mets, Yankees and such all get loke 300million a YEAR in broadcast rights? That is amazing.

Indians make a ton as well.

Most of those teams own the network broadcasting them. Basically, feeding themselves...

The Dodgers led MLB with 179M generated from TV revenue. This year, the recently signed national TV contract for the MLB from ESPN/FOX kicks in and each team will receive 53M instead of the previous 25M. This will help all teams, but obviously given that it's split equally, it doesn't really separate anyone.

The Reds actually ranked LAST in TV revenue for 2013 (only 45M for local rights, Cardinals were 2nd lowest), but have finished top 5 (were #1 in 2012 I believe) in viewership. Their contract with FOX Ohio expires next season I believe, so they will definitely have an argument about wanting a bigger piece of the pie given the number of viewers.

Looks like the Pirates are locking up Liriano for the next few years. That'll help, as he was very good in '13 and, after a slow start (and injury) last year, rounded out to be decent, if not great.

Think this is what kills the Yankees nowadays. Everybody has money to spend making their old outbid everyone strategy antiquated

White sox with a hell of a last few days. Samardzjia and Robertson are a nice addition to the pitching staff and I like abreu and Robertson on offense

Cubs are wheeling and dealing and I like it.

Brought back Hammel on a 2 year - $18 million deal
Traded 2 low-A prospects for 2-time all-star catcher Miguel Montero
Signed Jon Lester to a 6 year - $155 million deal with an option for a 7th year

Per Ken Rosenthal, the Cubs said they would add a "big bat IF they sign Lester." Should be interesting...

Scott Boras just popped the world's biggest rod after seeing that Lester contract.

Scherzer is going to get damn close to $200 million now I bet. From who I don't know, but Boras always pulls a rabbit out of his hat and I would expect like an 8 year deal as well.

Lester at 6/155 seems awful rich. He's a good pitcher, but is $25 million a year really the new going rate for a standard all-star caliber pitcher?

Just saw on Yahoo that they came out and said they expect $200 mil+. Wow.

Yes, if you want an all-star pitcher...evidently you're going to pay out the ass for one.

and if there was any doubt, (which there wasnt), no way the reds are keeping much of their staff. No way they can even afford Cueto

Everything I'm reading says the Reds are about to go into rebuilding mode. Fire sale on the way...

While it's a heated division rival and Reds fans have given me shit for the last 5 seasons...I hate to read this and hope it's not true. The Reds aren't THAT far off from being a contender...

The Reds problem last year really wasn't hitting, as bad as it was. Their bullpen lost them at least a dozen games...

Sounds possible that Alfredo Simon is who the Tigers are discussing. Latos definitely being talked to Florida and Detroit is NOT after the same person.
