A real man doesn't pay someone to put his dog down.
Take it for a walk and do the deed yourself. It will be tough but it's the right thing to do.

My lab got bone cancer a few years ago and we had to put him down. Incredibly hard!

Is there much of a difference between doing it with a needle via a vet than old yeller style?

Don't be such a bitch and do it yourself.

Taking her In at 9 this morning, they are gonna check her out first and see what's wrong before we make a decision. By the way should I just grab the 12 ga. Bring the family out to the woods and blast her, sounds pretty humane.

Well, I mean, they probably wouldn't feel it coming, so from that standpoint, it could be said to be humane.

However, there's a difference between choosing to have a dog put to sleep and doing it yourself. In certain circumstances, I might advocate assisting in the ending of a life for a terminal family member. Doesn't mean I'd say anyone should just put a gun to their head and blow their brains out just because it'd be cheaper than overdosing on morphine.

Vet suspected she had cancer and unless we wanted to go through a bunch of tests, putting her down was my best option. That was one of the hardest things I've ever done. It took 15 seconds after he gave her the shot and she just was gone. If I wasn't back here at work, I'd still be crying like a baby. Gonna miss that old girl.

Sorry to hear; not easy.

There's another little feller out there looking for companionship when the time is right.
