Are you just calling him a spade because he is black? That is racist.like_that;1652969 wrote:And he was a piece of shit. Why can't steelers fans ever man up and call a spade a spade?
He is a piece of shit. I thought that was pretty much what I had said.
We were walking by some tent heading into the game last sunday and the guy on the PA was saying the guy who got slammed is now playing in some band or whatever. Cannot recall it all as we were just going by.

That POS beat the hell out of his gf and didn't get any suspensions or fines.
He has no room to join this conversation.
Not only did he not get a suspension or fine but he also got a big fat raise in the form of a contract extension, I believe, while his teammate, WR Cedrick Wilson, did the same thing to his girlfriend and was released. That's why it pisses me off when people talk about the "classy" Steeler organization and the Rooneys. Basically, hypocrites.....

But in the end it truly is about wins and losses.
Ya dont have to like all the players and what they do. I stopped really caring a number of years ago about the character of the players, of any team actually. Learned that mostly from Bengal fans after they had that long list of guys who got into trouble.

I understand. I don't condone their behavior and my opinion may not be popular but Goodell should've come out earlier in his tenure and said " we play a violent game with violent individuals. They aren't going to be choirboys. Some will be criminals. If you don't like it, suck it....DON'T watch."thavoice;1653017 wrote:True.

That being said, I think the Rice's, Harrison's, Roethlisberger's, Donte Stallworth's, etc of the league are pieces of shit but it goes with the territory of the game they play.

Actually, it goes with the territory of the players being a cross section of the population.BR1986FB;1653018 wrote:I understand. The same things that happen in the NFL go on all over the country, most times with little to no fanfare. We expect just because they are public figures that they should somehow be better people than us, and that just isnt the case. Musicians, movie/tv stars, teachers, cops, military personnel, message board administrators all have the same ugly secrets in their closets and some nasty people.
Just the way it is.
We sit here with our normal working man jobs and cannot fathom (other than sleeper) making 7 figure salaries. We cannot imagine what we would do. We think that if we were multi-millionaires we all of a sudden would not make mistakes. When i hear a famous person getting a DUI we think....WTF? You have all that money, call a cab, a driver, whatever!
A local town used to have a pretty decent stag night where current and former members of a certain college in ohio would attend, as well as some current and former NFL players. I was friends with the people who would run it so I got to spend more time around those guys behind the scenes. I used to hold them all way up on pedestals too, but after a few years of that I realized...they are just like you are I. After that the celebrity, for me, wore off for professional athletes.

but back to professional football...........
Steelers at Baltimore tonite. I expect a loud crowd in Balt and the steelers not being able to run the no huddle as much and fall on the road. It would be cool to see the local kid get in for the ravens but he is on the practice squad now after getting drafted by them.
Maybe next time.

My only prediction is that it'll probably be a 2-3 point game. Because it seems like every game between those two teams winds up like that.thavoice;1653024 wrote:but back to professional football...........

Per Schefter....
Both sides, NFL and NFLPA, hoping to finalize a new drug policy tonight in which suspensions will wind up being overturned.

@AdamSchefter said if NFL-NFLPA agreement is approved, Gordon would still be suspended for some gms, maybe 6-10BR1986FB;1653088 wrote:Per Schefter....

This is bullshit, and I hope he is wrong. It wouldn't make sense for Gordon to only have his suspension reduced.

Makes about as much sense as me getting a ticket for speeding, and months later they decide that speed limit isnt fair/just so they raise it. And them sending me my money back and removing it from my record

Is there an allowable amount of time these guys get for being young and rich? I don't mean the women beaters/rapers and that stuff but I guess kind of a "grow up time"?
I'm not defending a single player of anything they've ever done but if a young athlete is an ass clown (bar fight, ridiculous speeding tickets, drug issues) from say late college thru age 25 or 26.....and then cleans it up and plays the next 6-8 years without issue.....is he still an ass clown?
POS category aside....I feel a lot of athletes grow up after a few years and become guys you don't need to worry about.
