Lotsa luck with that Jonny. Tressel is watching how this turns out very closely.

Tressel broke NCAA rules, and as bullshit as some of those are, it is a breach of his contract. It's a pretty clear cut, justification for firing him.

Not so much with "Jonny". The university gave no definitive reason for his removal, other than its kangaroo court style investigation, the validity of which is falling apart faster than a 1985 Yugo.
Please let us know the amount you plan to hold back so I can double it in my contribution.
You are a big boy, you can increase your contribution without m,y help!....why don't you just double yours...it won't cost you anything extra.

^^^of course. But the Board does have the ability to change its will. However, I have a suspicion that it has been behind this all along, and that Drake may be nothing more than the messenger.

Waters has been fired simply because he is associated with the band. It is not really about Waters but about Title IX, and the current university leaders covering their ass....It'll be interesting to see if the BOT even agrees to hear his case. It is looking more and more like the "investigation" by the Office of Compliance and Integrity was a trumped up report that was purposefully meant to railroad Waters and create a 'reason' for his firing.
This 'investigation' began more than a month before Michael Drake took over, but it was he that had to sell it. Drake perhaps subconsciously revealed that with his joke about not getting a 'honeymoon period'. He might not have had a choice, as other simpler, quieter options existed other than a high profile firing.

With the storm of alumni criticism surrounding this, and if the Board if of any mind to be fair to Waters, then they will at least hear his case. However, if the BOT refuses his request for a hearing, it will be an indication that they were behind it all along.

Board of Trustees sent Jonny a letter today more or less telling him to shove his baton up his ass. Case Closed...until he sues and then local news will dredge it all up again.

^^^ yep ... See post 255.... They were behind it all along. Nothing made sense till now.
Their letter to Waters was the same scripted narrative trotted out by Drake, complete with the nonsense of 'the safety of our students is our paramount concern'...??????.

Has he been reinstated yet, Hits?

Keep me updated.

Sometimes I get fired up about this case until I remember that this is the BAND we're talking about here - then I don't care. Whatever the case may be, I don't want the marching band in the news for even one more second.

I'm happy there are people in place to do the thinking. How are these students to know that they're being harassed and offended unless someone tells them they are?

^^^It's amazing these young adults were in so much danger for so long, and nobody knew....not even the openly gay member who questioned the 'investigation" report of homophobia last week nor the multitude of female members past and present who questioned the report's conclusion of harrassment being tolerated. Not even the "witnesses" who said the report misquoted, misrepresented and cherry picked their testimony completely. How does any university official say with a straight face that they stand by the report?

I don't care whether it is the band or the Department of Physics. A good man was fired unjustly, and unnecessarily, and his reputation and the reputation of the iconic institution(OSUMB..TBDBITL) he represented was sullied, unjustly.
I have been to over 120 games at the 'shoe in my lifetime. The band has always been part of the gameday 'spectacle' (to use Woody's words)that is Ohio State football.

Waters, a Buckeye himself, took what was always an elite group, to even higher levels. He was fired in a dick move by the very institution he loved most.

"A good man"..do you know him? Being good at your job doesn't make you a good person.

^^^Do you know him to judge he's not? I am going by testimony from the people he worked with which has been well documented on this thread.

I heard he kicked puppies and cut in front of people at Starbucks. Not a "good guy" at all.

It has been a week since the Board of Trustees and Michael Drake refused to even reconsider or hear the case for reinstating Jon Waters, but the contropversy has not died down among band supporters, the band's alumni association and student band members.

The Band is continuing to move forward without Waters, but continues to press for his reinstatement...

TBDBITL alumni association has released this You tube video in support for Waters...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDYWg-hQ378

not lost in the ending as they fight for one of their own....the last verse of Buckeye Battle Cry...
..."Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for O-HI-O."

Not sure who cares, but this was a story on the local CBS affiliate a few days ago. And we're hundreds of miles from Columbus.

In general, I think people are starting to get more cynical about universities and their administrators and questioning their leaders' actions and lack of accountability, with huge salaries funded mainly by student loan debt.

Did you figure that out all by yourself?

I said...
[has not died down among band supporters, the band's alumni association and student band members./QUOTE]

Of course people who care about the band...care about the band.
If you don't care about the band, why would you care about the band?

The bigger question to ask yourself is why someone who doesn't care about the band, clicks on a thread clearly for people who care about the band, when there are literally dozens of other threads to choose from on this site.?????

Gotta be a Michigan guy...SMH.

Because it's a message board, a place for DISCUSSION. It's not a place to only allow people to post who agree with YOU.
