I guess he doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame.

Musical icon, yes. Icon, idol or role model of life, no.

I agree, and that's why I clarified my OP as "icons in the entertainment industry".

Yep, I was on the same page as you and S&L. Just for different reasons, which is why I posted what I did.

Don't really care for either. I think Jason Derulo is better than Jackson ever was; Jackson just has the first mover advantage.

It's like anything else. Coke is just sugar and water that realistically doesn't taste any better than later Coke like products; however people build up a taste for what they consider to be 'Coke' and value judge that something that isn't coke can't be better than the original thing. Jackson is no different. His music is only great because he was the first to introduce his style of music and thus people think his is the best. The reality is, people are predictably boring and/or stupid and never decide things on their own. I'd much rather listen to songs by Jason Derulo than anything Jackson produced and Derulo is a much better dancer than Jackson as well.

Dont know if it is coincidental or on purpose that youve chosen Jason Derulo for this argument? The guy who is more obsessed with Michael Jackson than any other artist lol. He readily admits to copying, listening to him non stop and trying to be the dancer MJ was.

Yeah and blowing out a team 50-0 in football isn't a stomp, it's a battle and the other team put up a good fight. Come on man, do you really buy that bullshit? Even if its true(its not), the reality is he's a lot better than Jackson.

Look at Lebron. He always says Jordan is his idol and he looks up to him, but the reality is Lebron is better than Jordan but good luck convincing nostalgic old people that their old shit isn't that great.

What is there to not believe? He isnt prompted to have Michael Jackson on his playlists or told to emulate his dancing on stage or required to do a tribute to him (ok, maybe that on is being requested).

Again, you are delusional. I don't feel like explaining it to you; its much more fun to let you bathe in your own ignorance.

Any chance that Derulo and LBJ are better than MJ and MJ because of them??? I already have a pretty good idea what your sarcastic answer will be, but humor me.

lol, Im not even arguing one way or the other. Its music, it is 100% preferential. I just really found it kind of humorous that you picked the ONE guy who was extremely vocal about his love of MJ and style and everything. Dedicating entire shows to him and everything.

I honestly wasnt sure if it was purposeful or not.

Hard to say but unlikely. This isn't a product. I mean I can see the argument of say the cell phone whereas the phones today are derived on incremental increases of technology from the initial product. I'm not sure how that translate into people. But LBJ and Derulo would be just as good now from natural talent than either MJ or MJ. I'm not sure why we have an obsession of Jackson's music; it doesn't seem that great and probably only exists as great from people unwilling to waste time trying to convince stupid people that the status quo is likely incorrect.

No it was not purposeful. I think Derulo is better than Jackson in every way(and Derulo never molested children).

Jason Derulo? Isn't that that ****** who sings his name all the fucking time?

I'm not really a fan of Michael Jackson, but if I were to try devalue others' opinions of him I'd use someone other than a B-rate version of Usher
