I wonder how far this thing would have gone if it wasn't Craig James's kid ?

Maybe he can be the new Minnesota coach after they fire Tim Brewster for embarrassing the entire state as well as the Big 10.

Why is that classless? It sounds like that is exactly what happened. If it is the truth then it is just the truth.

I am on Leach's side so far not one shred of evidence of the alleged "horrid" treatment and much more evidence in favor of a whiner and his helicopter dad.

This is a slam dunk Leach will get LOTS of money for this crapola.

DING DING DING Yes he was not thrown into a shed all alone boo hoooo. He had trainers monitering him and making sure he was okay.

The kid was NOT harmed period end of story.

Not classless by Leach at all. Craig James and his son are lying and trying to ruin this man's livelyhood. He is stand up for himself and standing up against the media... if you don't think ESPN is a bit biased when covering this you're kidding yourself.

I 100% believe Leach in this situation. I heard somewhere that Leach is an attorney as well? I'd be suing Jame's ass...

Wow I didn't know that: "In 1986, Leach earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Pepperdine University School of Law."

I think this would be a non-issue if it weren't for Craig James. The family's story has so many holes in it with more and more assistants coming out to tell the story.

I wonder about those players that spoke out against Mike Leach. Was it done to show support for Adam James since he is still a member of the team or was Leach really a dick? Also, I wonder if they knew how the coaches seemingly were being harassed by Craig James if there opinions would change.

How do you know this? Seems like people on both "sides" of this are starting from an opinion and working backward to shape facts.

Well following the situation it sure looks like the younger James was exaggerating. If the stories are true he showed up to practice in street clothes and sunglasses and told his coach that he couldn't practice because it was too bright out. Leach then sent him to a "shed" the size of a two car garage because it was dark. He hAd people with him to watch him. Was it a power trip probably, but it sounds like he was already have troubles with James and his daddy. Craig James through, his own admission seemed to be a nibnose in the program. I'm not for sure that I blame Craig for wondering about his son in this one instance but I do believe the son was exaggerating (my opinion)

My opinion is this. Last year TT didn't want to pay Leach. However, they did because they knew they couldn't just publicly not reward the guy who had built their program from nothing. He was due $800,000 by years in and this comes out right before. Even though it happened way earlier. TT just didn't want to give leach that money and made a mountain out of a mole hill.

I admit I haven't read all the way through this thread, but from what I've seen on ESPN and elsewhere the last couple of days, I'm not sure what my opinion is of all this. Did he get locked in a room or not? If so, was it ordered by Leach? Did ESPN ask Leach this during its interview last night? If Leach had him locked in a room for 3 hours, how does Leach defend that? What exactly did that trainer say who is denying James' story?

I agree with Joe and others, there is just so much not being reported or investigated. I'm repeating myself, but the James kid youtube video hurt his credibility, I actually laughed while watching it.

Right now, I'm siding with Leach on this. Something doesn't add up, and from what I've seen and heard, it is the story that the James' are telling.

The trainer is saying the kid was monitored the whole time, and the "closet" was nothing of the sort. Those are two lies we know of, for certain, that James and his camp is telling.

Add in this big factor for me: Craig James was one of the key players that helped to bring down an entire football program (SMU) by taking all kinds of goodies from boosters during his playing days. He was as dirty as the day is long.

The man has zero credibility for me -- so I'll be siding with Leach on this one.

How do you know they're lies? This is far from Leach's first rodeo in terms of questionable acts (OT, who's smarmier, Leach or Meyer?). It seems to me that any claims made by anyone that's part of the program should be treated with equal skepticism as any made by the kid or daddy.

This could be one of those situations where there's no good guy, there's just scummy and scummier.

Let coaches coach and keep parents away from the sidelines...this goes for pee-wees to college. Craig James is completely wrong here and it doesn't matter how eccentric Mike Leach is. Tx Tech blew this big time and I hope Leach rapes them in court.

Exactly with the millions of dollars that could be in play with this situation, you better believe he's getting pressure from Texas Tech.

ESPN was showing clips from the Leach interview and then showing the statements that the trainer and team doctor made (everything contradicted Leach)

I have to admit one line that Leach supposedly said made me laugh. He said "lock his f-ing pussy *** in a place so dark, the only way he knows he has a d*ck is to reach down and touch it"

The whole affidavit is here:

If he said those words.....that's really about all you need to know about him. Is that doing anything to make his team or the kid better?

As for James...never been a big fan, he comes off very arrogant. As for the statement about him being at 70-80% off the preseason practices....I'd venture many Dad's with the open schedule and ability would do that..sure 98% don't have the chance...but a rare few do. Was he the only Dad? Craig James was the last white guy in the NFL to surpass 1,000 yards rushing in a season....and had a solid career....jerk or not he had to be one tough guy on the field....it's a little hard to see him trying to wuss his kid up....but I don't know, just a thought I had.

Iv'e heard Coaches in the SHL say much worse than that.

Leach already stated he had to spend more time dealing with Craig James than all the other Dads combined. Add that to the recorded messages that the Assisants and Leach have of James calling and complaining about playing time and you have a Dad who has issues.

Without regard to the kid and his dad, can anyone watch Leach in these interviews and not think "what a creepy dude"?
