Acting like you got hit with a 50 cal sniper and laying on the ground grabbing your ankle for 1 minute is not comparable to what Lebron or any NBA player does. I like soccer but there are floppers and actors to the up most degree in sports.
That all depends. You dont really see Americans do it, which is what your comparing it too.

Watch more Euro bball or S. American bball, and I bet you would see even worse flopping. I mean, Manu and Vlade are prime examples

My friend plays in Belgium and I have seen a few of his games and there is no flopping like that going on, it's actually a pretty physical game/league. Not saying it doesn't happen in other leagues just going off what I've seen. Still flopping that bad makes a mockery of a sport imo, when you take it to that level it's pathetic because it's really beyond gamesmanship.

lol I've seen the video, nothing comparable. Those guys deserve an Oscar for not getting touched and going down like they got hit by a 50 cal.

Anyway, let's get this thread back on track. Don't need to turn this into another robj suck off fest for NBA super stars.

Who do you all have winning tomorrow? I am going with Nigeria with an upset, and Germany wins 3-0 over Algeria.

And you're blind, as I already admitted he does flop/embellish. What soccer players do is take it to a complete other stratosphere. But we can let it die.

Im not really disagreeing. I think most of us hate the flopping and diving.

I just think it is a little blown out of proportion. Like, when people post a video of someone flopping in like the 3rd division of an Asian league...I mean, of course there are going to be a ton more "examples" compared to basketball or any other sport. Every country in the world has 100x more games being played then that of US sports. Baseball is the closest thing we have, and it is still 100x smaller...literally...than England.

Englands football association has around 7,000 teams each year. So, yes, the examples you are going to be able to find and post about are much more available. There is simply 1000x more matches being televised throughout the world then anythng else.

I think the writhing in pain is somewhat unique to soccer (of course, outside of baseball you dont have any other sport where screws are being jammed into your foot/ankle/Achilles), but dont kid yourself that, per capita, diving and acting and embellishing is any more prevalent in soccer then other sports.

I'm not really saying I hate it, just think that it's taken to such extremes in soccer that it almost makes a mockery of a great sport. I have no problem with gamesmanship if that's what it takes to win. Who was it that said if you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin.

Germany should have no issues, so long as the capitalize on their early chances. 4-0 if they attack all game.

I actually was thinking about taking Nigeria in an upset as well. They have been pretty impressive after looking God awful versus the USA (which, btw, I think we need to start giving the US some credit for that...and other games over the last 2 years).

Nigeria was horrible in their first game of the tourney. I remember posting on here how bad both the teams looked. Can't remember who it was against, Iran maybe?

IF NICK SABAN WERE THE COACH OF THE USMNT. This is how he would've reacted after the 1-0 loss to Germany

Nigeria and France under way in Brasilia. Should be a pretty open game, I would think. Lots of goals. Hopefully Nigeria can keep up.

Nigeria not backing down. Fun game so far. Paul Pogba is a fucking stud. I wonder if Juve will be able to keep him.

The Nigerians are magicians with the ball at their feet--they seem to have already broken about a half dozen French ankles-lol.

So far...

http://nesn.com/2014/06/report-jozy-altidore-warms-up-with-usa-at-world-cup-training-session/
Altidore was present at USA’s training session on Monday and participated in warmups with the team, according to ESPN.

Altidore’s status for Tuesday’s game against Belgium remains uncertain, but U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann told reporters on Friday that he’s “very optimistic” about Altidore’s chances of being available.
