They called up a defender to replace him, because as Jogi put it "We've got enough alternatives with Lukas Podolski, Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze, Thomas Muller, Mesut Ozil, Julian Draxler and Toni Kroos."

So unfair.

Altidore doing nothing to quell dissenters so far. Team yet again looks pretty bad.

My top 3 things:

1. Jozy gets a goal

Jozy might be back, if he is, we have a puncher's chance. Gonzalez should not see the field in the WC.

Best we've played in a while. I really like the Beckerman Jones lineup. I like that Bradley can go up the field more.

My top 3 things:

1. Jozy gets a goal
2. Defense looks solid. A shutout would look good, but might be lucky. I want to see them actually look coherant, even if Nigeria manages a goal or 2, as opposed to a lucky shutout.
3. Some nice counter play build up. When we win the ball, I want to see at least 5+ attacks that start with D/J. Jones that link up with the wings, Bradley and finally Dempsey/Jozy for a finish. Thats how we will have to play in Brazil, imo.
Check, check and check.

Sorry, but those of you who didnt want Jozy in the line-up are just wrong. The USA has no shot with anyone else up top. Jozy is by far our best striker. Yes, he was in a funk, but they have no chance in hell without him on the field. Thankfully, he looks like he has confidence after the tap in.

I also like Beckerman in the lineup but he has a lot of haters. I just love his ball distribution.

Beckerman back there with Jones, allows Jones to wander around like he wants to and for Bradley to go forward. Bradley is too good not to go forward like he did today.

The only issue with this line-up, which is the line-up that has to be used vs Ghana imo, is that Zusi isnt in it. Probably our most creative winger. But, thats not of too much concern, the team looked awesome today.

I've always liked Zusi but he looked like crap the previous game IMO.

This is what I mean by most creative though. Even today, if Mix controlled the great pass, he had a goal...

That graph of course was before the last 3 friendlies. Comparing Landon to the rest of the 23...

I think they'll put in Zusi for Bedoya. Bedoya didn't do much today.

I also hope that Dempsey finds his touch, he's still a bit off and could have had at least 1 goal today.

He is so much better defensively though, and he was solid enough on that side today. And, I think thats more important with Jurgen right now.

That said, he was terrible with great chances today, and you just cant have that when we, at least expect, to only have so many chances per game on the counter. We cannot spoil the open chances in the box we get, which Bedoya did today.

Watched that last night on HBO. Spot on, and hilarious.

Also, anyone see the animated short out for the WC? Loved it.

The thing about what John Oliver is saying...he's bringing to light to the public what most of the soccer community already knows. Now...people who like John Oliver and his humor understand some of the issues.

Animated short was real good too.
