Haha, I'm never going to be that guy. I'm going to be the drunk "security" whose only job is to call for help if someone is dying.sportchampps;1623063 wrote:Haha last time I was at Fados (St Patricks Day) a guy I knew was working security. He acted like he didn't know any of us when we went in, he even checked my ID. Don't be that guy.

Lol. I just heard the Michael Wilbon rant from yesterday. What an idiot. One of the most factually incorrect rants I have heard in awhile. He sounded like Kobe Bryants best friend trying to defend him, while, at the same time, exposing 100% of his ignorance on soccer.

Was this regarding Jurgen saying we didn't have a shot in hell?

It went beyond that. Asking him to leave the country. Saying he hasn't won anything (implying as player or coach lol) etc. I'll find the awful announcing link that destroys him.Automatik;1623209 wrote:Was this regarding Jurgen saying we didn't have a shot in hell?

The "he's not a GM" comment is a real gem.

And to dismiss the Gold Cup is retarded. Especially since it got us halfway to the Confederations Cup in 2017 lol.

Terrible research on Wilbon's part, but par for the course with ESPN.
The main reason Jurgen wasn't the coach earlier was because he wouldn't be granted total control.

LOL that is fucking terrible and I didn't even watch the clip. I definitely will check it out when I get home. I was a pretty big Wilbon fan but in the last 2-3 years he's just gotten terrible.Laley23;1623219 wrote:Here it is: http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/michael-wilbon-wants-to-deport-jurgen-klinsmann.html

“For some time I’ve known Kobe Bryant, and you Mr. Klinsmann, are no damn Kobe Bryant.”Laley23;1623219 wrote:Here it is: http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/michael-wilbon-wants-to-deport-jurgen-klinsmann.html
This is typical Michael Wilbon - go after a successful black athlete who he also considers a friend and prepare for the oncoming wrath. He pulled this shit little over a year ago
The fact that Jurgen is white, not American and is a soccer guy talking about probably didn't help much either
I do like Tony pointing out that Kobe's extension has a lot to do with selling tickets and maintaining him as the figurehead of the Lakers (also referencing Jeter/Yankees) so Klinsmann's quote doesn't take into account all considerations.
"You haven't won anything."
Technically this is incorrect but it is the POV of many casual soccer fans. He hasn't won anything until his team wins a World Cup.
The GM thing was simply retarded

Portugal beats MX in friendly 1-0 with goal in 93rd minute. Ronaldo did not play.

One of top German midfielders when down with partial torn ligament in ankle. May be out for World Cup.

So what does everyone want to see tonight versus Nigeria?
My top 3 things:
1. Jozy gets a goal
2. Defense looks solid. A shutout would look good, but might be lucky. I want to see them actually look coherant, even if Nigeria manages a goal or 2, as opposed to a lucky shutout.
3. Some nice counter play build up. When we win the ball, I want to see at least 5+ attacks that start with D/J. Jones that link up with the wings, Bradley and finally Dempsey/Jozy for a finish. Thats how we will have to play in Brazil, imo.
