Like I said, IF he is top 5 in ERA AND innings, meaning he shows he's good and healthy, do you sign him to that deal? I mean, I can show you dozens and dozens of pitchers who sign a big contract the year before they are set for free agency. Question was, if he's willing to take say, 6 years, 130M, do you sign him?
It may be a race to sign. I think the reds will sign one of those two guys, and I believe offers will be given and whomever accepts it first will be a red and the other will be gone.
All things being equal, they probably make JC a better offer because they tend to take care of their own even though ML is a bit younger.
It is a good problem to have though. It wasnt too long ago the reds had a tough time even filling out the rotation, and now they have a very solid rotation.
It is a couple of years away and I wont worry about it. Things tend to take care of themselves in some fashion. No way do I want to be like th Cav fans and worry, bitch, moan on what to do with a player like they did with Lebron and not enjoy what he brings to the table the last couple of years.
