So my microphone in my iPhone5 stopped working and after driving all over northeast Ohio trying to resolve the issue my only choice was to use my upgrade and get a new phone. Pissed with apples lack of fucks given over the fact their hardware failed a year and half into a two year agreement I switched to android and got an HTC One m8.

Hating it so far. Miss the iphone. Did I make the right choice in phone and just need to get used to this bigger feel or should I go back and get the 5s?

Android isn't for everybody but I went from the iphone to an HTC phone and loved the change, and now have the Galaxy S4. Will probably never go back to the iphone unless Android seriously screws up. The HTC One is a great phone so I would say to give it a chance, but honestly if you just want a phone to talk and text on with a little Internet then you'll probably want to go back.

Fuck iPhone. You made the right choice. It's just different. Once you get used to it, you'll love it.

I just ordered the S5. I have always been a Samsung guy and I went with an HTC DNA the last time I upgraded and it was a big mistake. I'm not saying the One is as bad of a phone but I have heard nothing but good things about the S5.

Android phones get a bad rap because OEMs (HTC, Samsung, etc) lay a bunch of stupid shit over top of the core Android OS. Usually people test an Android phone out and they hate it, when in reality they just hate the stupid overlay on top of it.

Depending on your provider, you're either stuck with the OEM bullshit or not. The Nexus 5 is on a few providers and it doesn't have any of the nonsense on top of Android.

What troubles me about the OP's post is that he apparently didn't test out the phones while he was in the store to see if he liked them or not. The HTC One isn't exactly "new", either.

It's older? That is crazy considering it's as much as the S5 with Verizon.

He got the HTC One M8. It's only been out for like 3 weeks I believe. Not sure how it is different from the first HTC One though

The m8 is a week old. According to the guy there the only one newer was the S5 which I didn't like the size. 23 hours in I'm still not liking the size of the one

oh I missed the m8 part.

Still, it's your own fault for not test driving the phones at the store and letting the sales guy talk you into a device.

You're on Verizon?

Yeah. With 13 days left to switch phones. Sorry I rushed into a phone with today being Easter and it acting as both my work and home phone it seemed pretty important for people to hear me when they called. So in between driving from new Philadelphia to fairlawn to canton and back to Dover. I narrowed it down to the 5s, S5, and One M8. Any suggestions dlazz?

Aren't the S5 & M8 the same size?

Anyway, what's not to love about the endless customization that Android gives you?

Don't like the layout of your iPhone UI? Tough shit.

Don't like the layout of your Android UI? Well unlike Apple, there's an app for that.

Search for 'launchers' in the Play Store if you don't like the HTC Sense layout. You can also search for icon packs to customize the appearance of your icons. Same with keyboards, dialers, text applications, etc.

Fuck iPhone.

Pencil in some free time and go to the store and find one. The LG G2 is pretty solid. I'm fairly sure the Moto X is pretty vanilla when it comes to Android phones. It probably wouldn't have any OEM launchers on it.

So you offer nothing.

Was more interested in guys who made the switch from iPhone to droid if they had the same feelings I have right now.

You will get used to the size, I switched from the S3 to the Note. Took about a week before I got used to it. Now I hate using my wife's s3.

It's kind of like recommending a car. I can recommend one, but you might hate it. It depends entirely on the person.

You probably just hate the launcher.

Download and install something else and see if you like it anymore.

I don't get the iPhone hate. Best quality phone out there, great app store, and the operating system kicks Androids ass. I've had the iPhone 4 since it came out, and in that time my sister, dad, mom and girlfriend have all bought Samsung's and Razr's. They're all on phone number two or even three as they complained about how slow and bogged down the phone had become, yet my iPhone hasn't had a problem at all.

All phones nowadays are great out of the box, but after a year or so, that's when the iPhone really starts to distance itself

That would require Apple being "open". That's not really their MO.

What exactly don't you like about the new phone?
