Not even close last year, but obviously it's a case of tape > numbers.
I need to look into how they figure out those numbers, because looking strictly at the coverage numbers I don't know how Revis is a 10.8 and Talib is -5.2. Is the extra 196 yards on 4 catches really put him that much worse than Revis? Completion % the same, average and YAC a little higher, but Talib had more interceptions and gave up fewer TDs and had a better QB rating (guessing that's what NFL rating is) against. Just don't understand how that bears out to Talib being below average in coverage and Revis being amazing.

Each player is graded on every snap. The coverage rating is the cumulative score from each of his snaps, based solely on the coverage shown on that play. Unfortunately for Talib, he was f*cking terrible after trying to come back from that hip injury. He received a -4.1 from his coverage of Josh Gordon alone.

Here's another PFF thing, signature stats (not exactly sure how they differ from their premium stats) but it shows Talib as #12 overall in coverage last year, and that's without taking into account the fact he spent the last half of the season struggling with his hip.

I dont think Talib was horrible, but Revis is better than him by a decent margin.

Now, you can debate if he is worth the trouble over Talib, but talent wise, imo, there is no debate.

Revis most likely to cause trouble about money, Talib more likely to end up like Aaron Hernandez.

Yep. I think they'd rather have a money guy than another murderer/felon.

Great deal for Ginn going to zona. With Floyd and fitz on the outside he will have lots of opportunities

Funny little twitter beef going on between Sherman and deangelo hall. Sherman just annoys the shit out of me. Hopefully he blows this year. Doubt it but i can always hope.

I don't get all the hate for Sherman. I love the way he plays and talks. The dude has a major chip on his shoulder and plays like it. He's also not dumb, he created an image and pretty much everyone knows who he is now.

Sherman is growing to be one of my favorites players in the game. Talks shit and backs it up, rare these days.

Truth. And is smart enough to parlay the shit-talking into reaching some sort of minor celebrity status.

I guess there are people like me who do not like trash talking.....just shut the hell up and go play the fucking game. Let your play on the field speak for you.

Trash talking takes away from it being a team game and puts too much of a spotlight on an individual for my taste.

That being said, I don't 'hate' players for trash talking.....it just diminishes who they are and what they represent IMO.

Let the slings and arrows come!! :)

Are you the one who also hates Peyton manning? If so, you pretty much hate every player.

I admit I didnt know much about Sherman until the rant in that game. I think that rant had alot to do with people knowing actually who he is and how intelligent he is.
I am more of a shut up and play type of guy and dont really care for public trash talking, but if a player wants to do it on the field in a way that it doesnt bring alot of attention onto himself by watching the game, then so be it.

They say Larry Bird was one of the biggest trash talkers out there...he just did it without everyone noticing.

Can't say that I have ever seen Peyton Manning slash across his throat, go facemask to facemask after a play with an opponent or call an opponent 'sorry'....so, no, I don't hate Peyton Manning. As I stated, I don't hate any of these players. Bad comparison.

This is just one of the many reasons that I do not like professional sports at all....

And, to me, this is different than what is going on today.

Bird's talking was to get inside his opponents head and to gain a competitive advantage over his competition and no one except the opponent knew it was going on. No self-promotion intended as none was needed for one of the all-time best players in the history of the game.

Sherman's rant was nothing more than self-promotion.

It's not a comparison, i can't remember who dislikes peyton. I feel like the username was similar to yours though. My point is if you don't like the type of player/person Peyton is, or the type of player/person Sherman is, then you probably won't like anyone in the NFL.

Also, it's not a professional sport thing. Where do you think these guys were before the NFL?

Nah. The difference is that Bird did it one on one, in game and not a angry rant in an interview for millions to see or on tweeter.
MJ was a big time trash talker, but he was like Larry Legend in how he did it.
I would say most players who do trash talk to it on a one on one manner.
True..Sherman was caught in the heat of the moment after the game and that is why there is a cooling off period in th elocker room after games before they get interviewed. I could overlook that, but to continue like this on twiiter is stupid

But in Bird's days...he didnt have the interwebs.

Nope..wasn't me. About the only professional football game I watch all year is the super bowl.

I understand it's not just professional sports...it is in college too. More than likely why I stick to high school and some college.

Now, if you want to place blame on why college and younger players do this...it falls squarely on the shoulders of the prima-donna professional athletes. Like it or not, they are role models and are paid, or over-paid as the case may be to be so.

Fuck you. This is not a racial issue or a cultural issue...it is a ethical and moral issue in my mind. I would say the exact same thing if the races were reversed.

Sports do not develop character....it reveals it.
