17 catches, 219 yards, (12.9 ypc) 3 TD's. Oh, btw, 155 catches on the year. You haters are right though. He's clearly not good enough.

Yeah, I don't get the people saying he won't be drafted. He's definitely got talent. Like I said, the Draft combine will be HUGE for him to continually improve his stock.

Right now, I'd say a 3rd or 4th rounder.

I'd agree with this. 3rd round at best. With a chance to be a decent #3.

Huh? All he did was run straight down the field. Nobody covered him.

Agree. If he can run in the 4.5's somewhere, he might even get looks earlier than that, but 3rd-4th round would be a great spot for him.

If he runs a mid to low 4.5 he could be a first day draft pick. If he runs the 4.65 he is reported to he will be a second day pick. I think he will get drafted, I don't know if he has the athletic ability stick long term in the NFL.

Yeah, averaging a first down every time you touch the ball is really shitty.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but Barnes ranks 777th(That's right, Seven Hundred, Seventy-Seventh) in college football in terms of YPC.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/statistics/player/_/stat/receiving/sort/yardsPerReception/qualified/false/count/761

So that is pretty shitty if you ask me.
Tried looking for it on the link you provided but it wouldnt work, how many of these players have over 20 catches? On the stats on cnnsi.com, of the top 50 only 3 have more than 20 catches.
This is a list of the top 100 players in the country by yards per reception, every one of which as at least 20 catches, you could probably go another 100 deep before Barnes makes the list.

If he didn't play in Ohio no one on here would care. Only people from Ohio and especially Bowling Green are the ones who think he is getting screwed all the time. If he wasn't from here, you wouldn't care. He is a good player but he is not great.

Thats what I was thinking as well.

What if Barnes goes to the Titans, or another team who runs the ball, while Tate lands with the Colts, Pats or Saints?

It doesn't matter though. He's gonna get a shot in the NFL over those other hundreds of guys ahead of him on the "YPC LIST" because he was a finalist for the award for the best player at his individual position in college football, and set an NCAA record, plus just caught 200+ yards worth of passing and 3 TD's on national TV in a bowl game. People know who he is, scouts know who he is, and he'll get a shot. If he works hard, he will be that same type of player in the pros.

I am not saying he won't be drafted/won't be a productive WR in the NFL, but he definitely needs to run a better 40 than 4.65. He won't be a 1st or 2nd rounder with that

That was just a dumb statement; Tate is a great receiver and a very good athlete. It's like comparing apples to oranges in my eyes with those two. Tate is a guy that will stretch the field, contribute to the return game, make the "big" plays, etc...Barnes is that guy that needs to get into a specific situation. Get on a team that needs a guy that can give them 4,6,8 catches per game and keep the chains moving in critical situations. I compared him earlier to a guy like Eric Moulds was when he was in Buffalo, or a guy like Kevin Curtis is right now for the Eagles. I also don't think he's going to come in in the first game of his career and blow everyone away. But down the road, after he is in a system for a bit, learns from the veteran guys, and gets quality coaching on the professional level, he will turn up, and I think he will be very reliable and productive. He'll never be the "superstar" like a Randy Moss, Desean Jackson, Reggie Wayne etc are for their teams, or like Tate has a chance to turn into; but all those teams have very good role players, and there is always a need for those possession guys to compliment them. That's what he is, and someone smart who knows they need a receiver like that will draft him.

Wasn't he 1 of 3 finalists for the Beltinikof (sp) Award this year? On a side note, the Brown's can draft him with there 1st, 2nd rounder and place him on the practice squad.:@

That's right. That is all they are. Opinions. Add me to the crew who thinks that Golden Tate will be the better pro. I could be wrong, and you could be right, who knows though...

Golden Tate is 5"11" 195............FYI.....so dont tell me he is more athletic, or more physical than Freddy Barnes!! Barnes is listed 6' 200. Id guess they are both a bit smaller than listed.

Do you know what it means to be more athletic or physical?? Have you seen Barnes play other than tonight's game and have you seen Tate play at all? Barnes could very well turn into a solid possession guy in the NFL but if you say he is athletically close to Tate you don't have a clue.

He'll be drafted no doubt about it. Someone will take at the very minimum at 7th round flinger on the single season reception leader in NCAA history.

Will he make a team and play? That has yet to be seen.
