Alabama has more ESPN 300 commitments (19) than total commitments for 15 of the top 40 recruiting classes in the country.....what?

Games would have to be earlier if they're on NYE. The OSU game didn't finish until after midnight, so the ball drop and game would be going on at the same time. Dumb.thavoice;1700021 wrote:The semis are schedule for New Years eve next year, a thursday night.

The NFL doesn't care about New Years eve, they want the championship game moved because they want a Monday night football playoff game. Roger Goodell and the NFL is as arrogant as can be to ask that of the College Football Playoffs.thavoice;1700021 wrote:The semis are schedule for New Years eve next year, a thursday night.

I'd rather watch football than watch the ball drop, especially if its Ohio State. Does anyone really think Ohio State isn't going to make the next 5 CFP? Urban isn't losing for the next few years and you can take that to the bank.se-alum;1700022 wrote:Games would have to be earlier if they're on NYE. Well so would I, but there are plenty of people that go out and celebrate on NYE or have get togethers to watch the ball drop. You'll continue to get the hardcore footballl fans and fans of the playing teams, but you'll miss out on the casual fans and fans of teams that aren't playing in the game.sleeper;1700028 wrote:I'd rather watch football than watch the ball drop, especially if its Ohio State. NYE is the most overrated night of the year. I'd gladly watch football over feeling like I have to do some overhyped bullshit just because.
New Year's Day partying is where it's at anyway. I did that this year, then watched OSU smash on Bama. Best New Years Day ever.

Oh i know. It is more ESPN that is pushing it.Terry_Tate;1700027 wrote:The NFL doesn't care about New Years eve, they want the championship game moved because they want a Monday night football playoff game. I would also prefer watching NCAA than the anything else on NYE.
I can see there point though. Millions of people will be out and about, doing whatever, and it is those viewers they want. The hard core football fans, the fans of those teams, will watch, but to make ratings blow up are the casual fans who tune in

I think a move away from NYE would get them better ratings though, and that is what they are after.

Here's a thought. How about they play the game on Saturday night so I don't have to stay up all night and then work the next day?!?

Do you work Saturdays? This year would be perfect. New Year's Day is on a Friday...meaning you can drink New Year's Eve, drink all day/night watching the playoff games on New Year's Day, drink all day/night Saturday, and recover on Sunday before you have to be at work on Monday.FatHobbit;1700071 wrote:Here's a thought. I'd still consider taking Monday off under this arrangement!sherm03;1700075 wrote:Do you work Saturdays? This year would be perfect. I understand that. I'm just referencing the comment of "how about they play them on a Saturday so I don't have to stay up late and be tired for work the next day." With the way the calendar is set up for the end of 2015/beginning of 2016, New Year's Day games would be perfect since you can do you regular NYE drinking and then have a 3 day weekend kicked off by playoff football.thavoice;1700079 wrote:This year the playoff games are scheduled for new years eve.

Yeah, new years day would be perfect. Thought it was great this year. I think the sticking point could be the rose bowl. The rose bowl is pretty much always on Jan 1st except for when it was the NC game for the BCS and when it fell on a sunday. (I didnt know that until I looked it up).sherm03;1700080 wrote:I understand that. Didn't know Jackson, OH had a D1 level athlete, let alone a high D1 athlete, but he turned down Harbaugh to stick with Stanford.

He was at his official visit to Stanford to commit and while there received a text from UM offering a full ride.....he left that visit without committing.se-alum;1700137 wrote:Didn't know Jackson, OH had a D1 level athlete, let alone a high D1 athlete, but he turned down Harbaugh to stick with Stanford.
4 days later Stanford assistants were at his house and then 2 days later he visited UM for a first class welcoming and he and his family sat with Harbaugh at UM basketball game.....
Been a crazy week of experiences for the local kid.

I'm fine with that. I just hate when they play the game on a week night and then I have to work the next day.sherm03;1700080 wrote:I understand that. Thanks for the insight. I'd say receiving a free education from one of the most respected institutions in the country is a win for a kid from this area.sleeper;1700184 wrote:He's never won anything and he won't at Stanford.
