I'd take JT as the best QB in the nation. Mariota can't be the best player if he's not the best QB.Classyposter58;1686621 wrote:He was the best player

Haha no I think JT almost threw as many picks as Mariota has in his whole career this seasonsleeper;1686631 wrote:I'd take JT as the best QB in the nation. Mariota can't be the best player if he's not the best QB.

That will happen when your playing top defenses week in and week out. Maybe in the Pac 12 or SEC it's easier to throw the ball, but in the B1G defense is the name of the game.Classyposter58;1686637 wrote:Haha no I think JT almost threw as many picks as Mariota has in his whole career this season

Pac-12. Where defense is optional and Oregon hasn't had a decent competitor since Stanford fell off the map.Classyposter58;1686637 wrote:Haha no I think JT almost threw as many picks as Mariota has in his whole career this season

This has resurfaced today after both sides denied previously. Youngstown Vindicator reporting it is likely now, as early as this afternoon

I'm kind of surprised. Even if he wanted to get back home, maybe wait for the Pitt job to formally open later this week and go for that?

He's said that he has always wanted his kids to go to Mooney. This gives him that opportunity.ts1227;1686737 wrote:I'm kind of surprised. Even if he wanted to get back home, maybe wait for the Pitt job to formally open later this week and go for that?
He can definitely bring YSU back up to a perennial FCS power. He'll be able to recruit very well in NEO. And he should be able to bring in some good athletes like they had back in the 90s.

Why? Maybe he is tired of the big time BS that he has dealt with while at Nebraska. He is also probably walking away with a buyout, so money is not an issue. So why not at this stage of his life. Not everyone is motivated to jump into the fire again.ts1227;1686737 wrote:I'm kind of surprised. I understand that, but he just didn't seem like he was ready to step back from 1-A head coaching yet IMO. But if he's ready to go home he can be coach for life at YSU if he tears it up.centralbucksfan;1686753 wrote:Why? Maybe he is tired of the big time BS that he has dealt with while at Nebraska. Perhaps he put feelers out behind the scenes and got negative feedback. That can happen sometimes when your reputation is "giant asshole".ts1227;1686737 wrote:I'm kind of surprised. Even if he wanted to get back home, maybe wait for the Pitt job to formally open later this week and go for that?

I think he was just bent on going home

Nebraska has to pay him something like 7.5 million buy out minus whatever he makes at YSU. Max he'll get around 250k at YSU so he'll be making a ton of money for the next few years.

Bo most likely could have been a coordinator at a big school, but some guys like being the head coach once they have had a taste of it. Frank Solich and Terry Bowden could also be coordinators at bigger schools, but they have chosen to be head coaches at smaller programs.

And if you add in points others have made, YSU could have been a godsend "rebuild rep" head job. The point about wanting his kids going to Mooney works out a lot better if he's in Youngstown (cue Skank showing up to debate that while ignoring his school getting kids from places that aren't Mass-town). And if Nebraska has to pay all of his buy out minus what he makes, as Ytowngirl said, and knowing how Pelini comes off as a major douche, I definitely can see him taking a low-paying head job just to stick them for a huge bill. Fuck, I admire that!Al Bundy;1686789 wrote:Bo most likely could have been a coordinator at a big school, but some guys like being the head coach once they have had a taste of it. He should sign a $1 contract at YSU to really stick it to Nebraska...lolHeretic;1686790 wrote:And if you add in points others have made, YSU could have been a godsend "rebuild rep" head job. Solich and Bowden are also fucking old (Bowden pushing 60 and Solich is 70) and took those as retirement jobs. Bo (late 40s) has a long tenure at YSU if that's his retirement job.Al Bundy;1686789 wrote:Bo most likely could have been a coordinator at a big school, but some guys like being the head coach once they have had a taste of it. Bobby Knight one time at TT refused his salary for the season because he felt he didnt earn it. He did have to accept some sort of minimum payment though for insurance purposes or whatever....

So Jimmy The Liar hired one of his old Y-town runnin' buddies huh? The only place in the world that could possibly be shittier to live in than Lincoln, NE is Y-town, PA. Yeah you heard me right...PA...Ohio couldn't possibly be responsible for a hell hole of that magnitude.
