Forgot about that. I guess his relatively brief appearance in the tv shows to this point makes sense for that purpose.

But WHY was it such a big deal to Ned Stark to find him then? (without spoilers if you can, please). The tv show, at least, hinted Robert's bastards were somehow a threat to Joffrery, which is why Ned wanted to find Gendry and why Joffrey had all the bastards killed.

It's what Jon Aaryn was investigating when he died/ was murdered. If Ned can find Robert's bastards the thought was it might lead him to the killer.

Thanks for the insight. I don't think I'm an ignorant viewer, but that angle was completely lost on me.

And on top of it, if it could have been proven that Cersei/Jaime were the parents of all Robert's kids, it would utterly discredit the Lannisters and, of course, any right to the throne Joff/Tommen have.

Ned himself didn't care about any of that political stuff. He just had an inflexible code of honor and a friend of his died attempting to find the truth, and so he felt it was his duty to take up the mantle, though.

The next episode better be bad ass. A lot of good info but was pretty boring overall.

Apparently the Jaime scene hasn't gone over well with many people. Will watch it in a few hours. Don't expect it to be as great as last week's, but what would?

Are you one of those people that needs to see a crazy battle scene or someone of extreme importance to die in order to like the show?

I thought last nights episode was pretty good, but I don't really need to see a huge battle to think that, so.

The episode was pretty ok, not the greatest but not nearly as bad as what I read. The Jaime thing was not nearly as bad as what was reported, a lot of set-up but that was far from the worst episode of the series.

When there are only 10 episodes a year yes id like to see a little action in every ep. I didn't say it was awful, just a little boring compared to what I'm used to.

Wow, some people are really overthinking the Jaime/Cersei scene:

https://tv.yahoo.com/news/game-thrones-breaker-chains-episode-181600643.html

Note, they are incestuous, and don't have normal sex. And slight book spoiler (not really), when Bran sees them he notes that she keeps saying "no" but acts as if she doesn't mean it. D&D could have toned it down a bit, but that wasn't nearly as bad as the imdb.com boards are screaming about.

I was thinking about why they even bothered to show the Jaime/Cersei scene in the first place? It makes me think she will become pregnant again and won't have a husband to hide it this time. Just a guess, because otherwise it seems pointless.

I think it is just to show how nutty Cersei has become, although her actions at the wedding last week indicated that. Also, that Jaime still has some attraction to her. It was an odd scene, but nowhere as terrible as some critics have made it to be.

I took it as Jamie was sick of her "hateful" attitude and hasn't gotten any trim in long time.

Not at all. We have had 3 episodes and 1 of them included a third of the most shocking scenes (Ned being beheaded, Red Wedding and Joffreys death)

It's building up. The only storyline that I think is a bit lacking is Stannis - seems like D&D are putting in filler and not flowing with the end of last season. I prefer the new Daario (still a horrible character), and its a bit weird they aged Tommen by 7 years but I suppose they had to for child actor reasons.

Only thing I don't like about the show is when RR goes all perv. Some of it I do see as necessary to the plot/world he's created, but some of it seems a little creepily indulgent.

Raping his twin sister at the foot of their dead son's body...c'mon, dude, that's trying WAYYYY too hard for shock value.

Well, since rape is supposedly about power...Jamie has been made to feel pretty much nothing but impotence since coming back short-handed.

And that was every bit as akward as you'd expect from a guy with one hand trying to hold her down while he drops his pants.

I was SOOOOO disappointed when Sir Arrogant comes out to challenge Khaleesi's champion....I thought "ok, this will be good when he shits his armor when that big-ass dragon comes swooping in"
