To no one's surprise, Kamara is in the starting 11.

Portland scores 27 seconds into the game because of a horrible play by the Clark.

had to laugh...the Commish of this minor league dodgeball league is congratulating the Columbus fanbase for their "hospitality" while hundreds are flipping off the camera as it pans the stadium. I'm pretty sure many of these "soccer fans" come from NEO cities that have a strong Euro-Slavic background...because most people in Cbus don't GAF about the Crew.

Bummer of a game, no doubt.
Never saw that meltdown coming, at all.

Messi just got destroyed on a 50-50 ball by the Bettis GK. He'd be out forever in the NFL concussion protocol. Being taken off on a stretcher now, wonder how long he will be sidelined.

2016 MLS Draft starts at 1pm ET today. Should be live streamed here: http://www.mlssoccer.com/superdraft/2016/tracker.

I don't follow MLS but my roommate in college played for UK. His little brother got drafted by New England with the 10th pick.

Anyone catch the USMNT match yesterday against Iceland?
Dominated the match in pretty much every category. Won 3-2 in a last minute header from a freekick. Michael Bradley was the best player for the US, by far (2 assists). Sloppy game defensively.

How can we 'dominate' and win 3-2 on a last minute freekick goal?

Watched the majority of the game. Definitely did not "dominate" but we did control possession for the majority of the game and had the most offensive chances.
Should have been a lot worse than 3-2, but that's par for the course with the USMNT.

I had a feeling most didn't know the game was on either. It wasn't marketed very well. ESPN was too concerned with marketing the Pro Bowl, even though ESPN2 carried the USMNT match.wkfan;1779235 wrote:Did not see it...did not know it was on.

In regards to both and "domination," I'm not sure what you guys qualify (or quantify) with domination, but USMNT had 62% possession, 8-2 on corner kicks, and 16-6 shot differential. Iceland didn't really threaten the USMNT outside of the two goals -- first one was terrible clearances by US defense and second was lackadaisical defending while arguing with an official during a stoppage. Iceland didn't see the ball, didn't threaten in attack, and definitely didn't do a real strong job in defending.SportsAndLady;1779238 wrote:Watched the majority of the game. With those stats, and watching all of the game, I don't know what else to say instead of dominating -- maybe "controlled the whole match" is better? I wasn't ever really scared of Iceland during the game, and the game shouldn't have been as close in scoreline as it was.

I didn't feel we dominated either. That shot statistic seems misleading. Seems like Iceland had more scoring chances than that. We definitely were he better team, but so often with USMNT, our defense is so bad team can easily capitalize on the few chances they get...cause those chances are so good.

Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica in the Copa group. Will we field a full strength squad given that we won't be playing in the Confed next year?

I cant imagine we field anything less than our best. If we do, we will be the only country doing so, and we are hosting. Would not be a good look for getting invited to future Copas or even hosting future ones.

Why would the USA not field their best team? This is a legitimate tournament. You don't send your B squad to this shit. I would be pretty pissed if they did.

Yeah, no idea why we wouldn't send a competitive squad. World Cup isn't for 2 more years. A lot of the tournament takes place when European clubs are on break, so several of those guys will probably be involved with a lesser MLS influence, possibly.

I would hope it will be different in a non-Gold Cup year, especially on home soil, but we didn't bring a good roster in 2007 and Mexico almost never brings their first choice side.
I also think at least a couple South American sides bring weakened/young teams. This is the 3rd straight year with a tournament/no break in summer, and they are in the middle of 2018 qualifying.

I don't. This is a serious tournament. I would be pretty surprised if any team sends anything but their best.Mulva;1783205 wrote:I would hope it will be different in a non-Gold Cup year, especially on home soil, but we didn't bring a good roster in 2007 and Mexico almost never brings their first choice side.

If they want to legitimize this tournament and receive the same type of attention as the euro cup, they will send their best teams. Nobody is sending their B squad to the euro cup.

We shall see. It might the squads with no realistic chance of winning and not the big boys, but I'd be surprised if everyone is at full strength.

Sounds like Timmy Howard is a done deal to join Colorado Rapids. Terrible move.
Rapids are a joke.
