Race was mentioned in the crimes, as in this case in the youtube video. Hate crime was charged in this case and not the ones I listed. This exactly. A violent crime is a violent crime. It's motivation doesn't change the fact of what happened. Furthermore, "hate crimes" are only applied using a double standard where the victim is a minority and the perpetrators aren't. Such is a formula ripe for abuse. They should be done away with. People should be judged based on their actions, not their thoughts.

Once again what is your point? I have stated repeatedly that cases where race is a motivating factor should be labeled hate crimes. The funny part about those cases and this one mentioned is when it comes to jail time we all know who will serve more. Talk about that double standard.

The first article you posted I really don't consider a lady getting her phone stolen and being called a "white bitch" a hate crime lol. You're reaching with that one.

I'm not trying to justify why this isn't a hate crime under the definition. By definition it is. I'm asking why the others are not. Under the definition, any criminal activity against someone based on race, color, etc. is a "hate crime". I listed many that fall under that category that weren't classified as such. And this white guy will serve the most time since he's getting charged under the FEDERAL hate crime law. His is the first to be charged under this law. He faces 10 years.

Why are their double standards in sentencing? I feel as bad for him as a feel for any black person that commits a crime. If you know that blacks will serve more time than whites that commit the same crimes, then don't be a criminal. For any white person that commits any violent actions that can even be perceived as a hate crime it will be. So essentially don't fuck yourself by being a criminal.

It's supposed to be a justice system. It's not supposed to be arbitrary. Justice essentially means fairness. What this country has in place right now is not a justice system. It's just a criminal system. There are too many stupid laws and too many stupid people enforcing them.
