No...Phil's interview won't doom the show.

Liberals will paint it as a bunch of rednecks who hate gays, but the reality is the majority doesn't believe what a vocal minority does and once a controversy gets big enough, the majority wins and it fizzles out.

You and your fellow Phil supporters have only a very selective myopia, used to defend and excuse their idol.

What majority are you talking about? The 56% of Americans who believe in gay marriage and the 36% that doesn't? A majority of Americans disagree with Phil's views.

I'm still waiting for you to show where I've supported him.

And...this post is another example of your blindness. So be it. You don't like Phil's freedom of speech, but you believe your freedom of speech (and thought) is deserved AND the only way to think. There are some people that aren't worth talking to.

You should really think about trying to converse like an adult (if you are).

1. LOL, we have pages of you rationalizing his words and denigrating his critics, a supreme effort to defend a homophobe and racist, a despicable human being.
2. I sure have not denied Mr. Robertson’s right to make his statements . What I have done is criticize the content of his statements and the character of the man who made them. Exercising my right of free speech as Robertson exercised his. You should try to understand how the right to free expression works.

Please show me where I have supported Phil Robertson...please and thank you.

Where have I ever said you denied his right to make his statements? Do you lack reading comprehension that bad? You should try to understand that before you try to dialogue anymore.

1. By reading from Post 9# on the thread to the present any person with the slightest interest can read your continuing effort to defend and rationalize the homophobic and racist thoughts and actions of Mr. Robertson.
2.

I support the freedom of speech. I do not dislike Mr. Robertson’s freedom of speech or the freedom of speech of any American. I endorse the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Amendment for all Americans,
“Congress Shall make no law abridging the Freedom of Speech” for Phil Robertson. My criticizing the hateful content of Robertson’s speech in no way demonstrates opposition to his freedom of speech. You obviously do not understand what is meant by freedom of speech. Read and learn.

Do you know there is a difference in arguing with evidence and support? Please answer that directly instead of skirting like you have since the first post where I asked you to "show me where I have supported Phil."

And, this will be another "show me where..."...please show me where I have said you oppose his freedom of speech. I said you don't like "his freedom of speech," i.e., what he was quoted at saying in GQ. You obviously do not understand reading comprehension.

Say what you want about their religious beliefs, but a big part of that shows popularity are their solid values and strong family cohesion.

That is, until one of Willie's kids are old enough to make some scandalous headlines...show will probably be long done by then, though.

1. I have skirted nothing, I have cited places where people can find examples of your defense of Phil’s homophobia and racism.
2. Here is the definition of freedom of speech
“
the right to express facts and opinions subject only to reasonable limitations (as the power of the government to protect itself from a clear and present danger) guaranteed by the 1st and 14th amendments to the U.S. Constitution and similar provisions of some state constitutions,”
\

I do not dislike freedom of speech for Phil Robertson, Ted Cruz, Pat Buchanan, Noam Chomsky. I like the fact they have freedom of speech and are able to exercise the right to express their opinion. I am for it.
I also like the fact that I can criticize them. You are still unable to comprehend to concept.

one less defender of homophobia and racism.

Phil Robertson by claiming gays are equivalent to practitioners of bestiality and murder has shown himself to be a homophobe.
Phil Robertson grew up in Jim Crow Caddo Parish, Louisiana, a center for KKK, racial intimidation and black resistance. He lied and showed himself a racist by denying witnessing black mistreatment.

As for the verdict today that he isn't missing anything.........his rights as an American wins out. It also doesn't hurt that A&E made $80 million from the show.
Gosh a ruddies! Mr. Robertson claims to have seen only happy blacks. He claims to have seen no mistreatment. He is born in 1946 in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, a center for KKK activity and racial violence. But according to you he sees nothing. He is living in a center for dejure segregation, Jim Crow laws enforced. He used Separate and unequal facilities (mistreatment of blacks), He went to separate and unequal schools (mistreatment of blacks) He lived in a where race base social mores kept blacks down. All of this was the law. And blacks were protesting these conditions while he was living in Caddo Parish, because they were unhappy with the conditions. He chooses now to ignore these facts because he is a racist bigot.
And he is back on the air because there is a niche market for homophobes and bigots.

ccrunner609;1558820 wrote:first off, please ask yourself if this is a race issue or you are just trolling. Please post anything that he has ever said or done that deals with race? The issue was that he quoted a bible verse about homosexuals.

So stop posting anything about the KKK, the racist environment that he grew up in and had nothing to do with developing.
From the GQ interview where he also rips on Gays.
“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field.... They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

The lying racist hypocrite supposedly never noticed segregated schools, segregated facilities, KKK, enforced racist social mores and the black protest all taking place around him in Caddo Parish.

In a generation, marriage between any two adults will be legal in every state. In two generations, people will look at this in the same way as the 60s civil rights movement, shaking their heads at how ridiculous the losing side was.

And you are probably right.
The only difference that I can think of though is that one situatio is face based, and the other was a man-made culturally based.
The slipperly slope of always allowing and in many cases supporting poor, immoral behavior is not a good thing.

Since you've openly admitted to being married to a racist, I can see why you'd say this.
