David Pollack is an idiot. Said that OSU doesn't have big physical defensive lineman.

Endless ad nauseum regarding Woody & the fat hill jack he punched. IMO the Buckeyes will not get up for this one and lay an egg.

Bucks will be the home team. Would be nice to see them wear the scarlet rivalry jerseys as a preview for next year(my guess is they will be permanent next year).

They don't. They have some nice edge rushers like Bosa and Spence, but nothing inside. It's really been a problem for several years now even back to Tressel.End of Line;1550645 wrote:David Pollack is an idiot. Said that OSU doesn't have big physical defensive lineman.

I just dont see OSU winning this one. I look for the defense to struggle again especially with the vet Tajh Boyd at QB. If Mich St. QB can carve up that D like that Tajh should be able to do more.

Does it get mentioned more or less than that Boyd spurned the Buckeyes on National Signing day in 2009?ou1980;1550641 wrote:Thoughts?

I think this should be a pretty good game. I think Clemson will win 34-31.

Ok, I should have inside guys that can play. I don't care how big Joel Hale is while he is getting blown off the ball, and I don't know who Carter is. DTs under 300 lbs are really light in today's football at the elite level.LJ;1550676 wrote:You have no idea WTF you are talking about.

Hale Schutt Carter and Washington all see significant time. They all can play. Bennett is 290 and can play. Washington and Bosa are DEs, and Bennett should be one, but can't because they have no tackles. Schutt is too small and I never noticed Carter, so they didn't too much with their significant time.LJ;1550691 wrote:Hale Schutt Carter and Washington all see significant time. They all can play. Washington plays inside and out depending on how they want to go. Schutt is over 300 lbs. Bennett has always played inside. Carter had a sack and a tfl.Cleveland Buck;1550695 wrote:Washington and Bosa are DEs, and Bennett should be one, but can't because they have no tackles. I guess the statement pollack made was that OSU has no physical guys on the d line and Jessie Palmer quickly fired back with Boss, Bennett, Spence and Washington and basically called him an idiot

I, too, am worried about this. This team didn't look prepared for Michigan and didn't look prepared for Michigan State. Now I believe that MSU would beat Clemson, I also believe OSU CAN beat Clemson, but I am not sure if they will. The past 2 games have really made me doubt their preparedness for these big games. Very few adjustments being made, DB's getting turned into toast on out routes and corner routes. Major work in the next few weeks will need to be done.Tiernan;1550653 wrote:Endless ad nauseum regarding Woody & the fat hill jack he punched. Fortunately for the Buckeyes, the ACC traditionally sucks in the BCS with only 3 all-time BCS bowl wins in the BCS era as a conference. OSU has twice that many alone. Hopefully they can get one more win and remain the all-time BCS wins leader at the end of this BCS era.

My sentimental side wants to believe that Meyer will have Ohio State ready to roll and that the Buckeyes will want to prove to the nation that they're the real deal.
But my brain tells me that the MSU loss may have taken the wind completely out of the Buckeye sails this season. That bench looked as dejected as I've ever seen it at the end of the B1G championship game.
Points to count on:
1. You can bet the media will bring up Woody punching Bauman nearly 4 decades ago. Who effin cares at this point? But the Buckeye hating press won't let it go.
2. You can bet the Buckeye hating media will also point out the fact that Clemson's QB Boyd "rejected" Ohio State in favor of Clemson. If Boyd picks apart the porous Buckeye secondary, we can count on it being repeated over and over and over....
3. You can bet the Buckeye hating media will make a big deal that Ohio State has had the most BCS invites in the soon-to-be-dead BCS era. And if the Buckeyes lay a giant sized egg, it will be all the more reason for the Buckeye hating media to demonstrate why Ohio State isn't all that good and don't belong in the SEC Elite Club.

Do you realize, or did Pollock realize that MSU had the first RB go over 100yds this season? OSU was one of the best teams in sacking the QB this season as well. The front line isn't/wasn't the issue with this team.Cleveland Buck;1550689 wrote:Ok, I should have inside guys that can play. Exactly. Quite franky, due to injuries to our linebackers and secondary, it became one of our strengths.centralbucksfan;1550782 wrote:Do you realize, or did Pollock realize that MSU had the first RB go over 100yds this season? Uh...we're one of the best run defenses in the country and it sure as hell isn't because of our linebackers outside of Shazier. Our defensive line is good and they're enormous. It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another thing to pay attention and actually base it in something.
Unfortunately, our defensive line will matter very little in this match up. I don't see them getting to Boyd much. We had a lot of sacks this year, but honestly we DON'T have great pass rushers. They got sacks against lesser competition in the beginning because they are big and powerful. Our DB's are trash, don't see it improving much either. Boyd may throw for 1,000 yards.
That said, we can win a shootout if we get our offense right. I think the play calling got kinda ugly over the last few games, ESPECIALLY against Michigan State. If you go back and look at the games Brax passed well in, they ran plays that got him some easy throws and built some momentum. Now it seems like we either throw a quick hit out to the flat or we go deep. It's set up for failure. Our running game should have no problem against Clemson but the play calling there has been suspect in clutch situations too. There were maybe 2 or 3 running plays that didn't really work once against MSU, but that's what they called every time we had a short yardage conversion. I was scratching my head on 4th and 1, running Brax around the end to the short side of the field. Was I the only one that noticed the push our offensive line got straight up the gut the entire night?! I hope they give Hyde 40 carries in this game. We should play much better with a month off. We're definitely a better football team than we showed Saturday night, especially offensively. It almost felt like there wasn't an offensive game plan against MSU, in the beginning it was like they had no idea what they wanted to do.
I'll say, Buckeyes 45, Clemson 42.
