Is that directed toward my decision to watch the mist or my negative review?Heretic;1795205 wrote:THE FUCK???????

Seeing Civil War tomorrow. Wasn't looking forward to it when it was announced, but previews and reviews have me much more excited.

Saw it yesterday. It was good. There was one plot element that just didn't seem believable, but it didn't ruin the movie. It was really light on "villainy," but I get that that wasn't the point of the movie. I liked the grafting in of new Avengers into the previous cast. I'd give it 8.5/10, or maybe even 9/10.Laley23;1795479 wrote:Seeing Civil War tomorrow. Wasn't looking forward to it when it was announced, but previews and reviews have me much more excited.

I agree, some holes but overall good.O-Trap;1795495 wrote:Saw it yesterday. It was good. There was one plot element that just didn't seem believable, but it didn't ruin the movie. I am not a comic book person, but from what I have heard the comic book version of Civil War was much more "dark" and a key character in the MCU died at the end of it (don't want to spoil the movie) but the movie was much more "child friendly" than the comic book version.

Exactly. It's setting up for Infinity Wars.O-Trap;1795495 wrote:It was really light on "villainy," but I get that that wasn't the point of the movie.

Sure. Under those circumstances, though, I think they could have cut out a solid half hour, though.TedSheckler;1795623 wrote:Exactly. It's setting up for Infinity Wars.
As for the plot hole that bothered me, I suppose it wasn't some huge hole, but with the amount of hubris that Stark has always shown, it seems so out-of-character for him to want oversight from another entity, even under the circumstances explained in the movie. That seemed like a forced personality change. Didn't care for it.

Civil War. Meh. Not bad, but didn't like near as much as some of the other Marvel movies.

IYO Scarface is .5 better than Wolf?Terry_Tate;1794792 wrote:Never watch movies but actually watched 2 last weekend.
The Wolf of Wall Street - 6.5/10.
Thought the movie was decent, but Margot Robbie, wow.
Scarface - 7/10.
Saw it was on Netflix and never seen it so wanted to check it out. Knew the big quotes so was cool to actually see them used in the movie.

Good grief. In the fictional Marvel universe, there are superheroes, so that part of the movie is believable for the fictional movie.kayo;1795659 wrote:Ah, glad to hear the rest of this SUPERHERO MOVIE was believable.
There was an element to one of the characters that seemed very counter-intuitive for the groundwork the writers had already laid for the character.
Hell, I didn't think I'd have to spell that out.

Really thought it was 1.5 better, but Wolf got a 1 point bump because of Margot Robbie.Sonofanump;1795655 wrote:IYO Scarface is .5 better than Wolf?

I could see that, a 25 year old Michelle Pfeiffer was not bad to look at though.Terry_Tate;1795667 wrote:Really thought it was 1.5 better, but Wolf got a 1 point bump because of Margot Robbie.

I noticed that too. But then I thought, maybe there's some kind of ulterior motive for Stark? I don't read the comics so I have no idea if that's true or not. Just my theory.O-Trap;1795648 wrote:Sure. Under those circumstances, though, I think they could have cut out a solid half hour, though.

I agree, from what I understand the comic book folks thought the same thing back when the book(s) came out like 10 years ago. They didn't understand why Stark would be all for oversight by the government.O-Trap;1795648 wrote:Sure. Under those circumstances, though, I think they could have cut out a solid half hour, though.

I put it better than most of the single character Marvel Movies (Thor, Hulk, etc) but not as good as any of the Avengers or even Iron Man.Laley23;1795652 wrote:Civil War. Meh. Not bad, but didn't like near as much as some of the other Marvel movies.
It was definitely not better than Guardians of the Galaxy either or Deadpool.

The only thing I could come up with was that his origin story was, at least in the films, about defying oversight. Perhaps this was him coming to grips with what had resulted from something for which he had fought ever since he became Iron Man.jmog;1795704 wrote:I agree, from what I understand the comic book folks thought the same thing back when the book(s) came out like 10 years ago. It's a stretch, no doubt, but it was all I could come up with.

Captain America 1
Ant Man
I don't know what it was, but something was off about the movie. Just didn't click for me, and I thought it dragged along.

I definitely expected more. I think if I would have gone in expecting a captain America movie I would have enjoyed it more. I agree with everyone about iron man not being the one who would welcome govt oversight. It also lost me after the airport fight scene. To much of that didn't make sense.Laley23;1795720 wrote: I don't know what it was, but something was off about the movie. Just didn't click for me, and I thought it dragged along.
Finally I think dead pool raised the bar for comic book movies. It was damn good and I expect that now from all of them

My biggest problem with the airport scene was they were almost all 'joking' and not really fighting to 'win' or hurt each other.FatHobbit;1795733 wrote:I definitely expected more. The final battle with IM/Cap/Winter looked like it was going to go to the 'death'.

Is Deadpool worse than There's Something About Mary for being appropriate for a preteen?
