College stats mean dick, in the NFL.
If they mattered Timmy Chang would be putting the finishing touches on his HOF Career, and Case Keenum, would be transforming the league.

Tommy Chang weighed about 135 lbs hardly an NFL type talent. Colt Brennan in...pretty much the same thing.Manziel did his work in the SEC, not the WAC or whatever they called it back then. But beuond all that. I feel sorry for those that somehow, someway...think the Browns have a better offense with Hoyer running things. Because...they don't. And ot's not even close.I'm pretty sure Pettine's competitive juices will flow and the switch will be made very soon, before the season is ruined.

I'll tell you what. This team is really improving. I love that Farmer realized we needed a lot of depth at running back, so he goes out and gets 4 talented RB's that can handle the load. Great job by our leader to have that vision. I really think this team is going to get to the playoffs after seeing this offense tonight. Really starting to take it too teams and are slowly establishing an identity. Really excited for this season.

I'm assuming you're referring to my comment with this and, if so, your reading comprehension is pretty fucking shitty. What I said was:Pick6;1648552 wrote:But damn, give him a chance to grow before we call him Brady fucking Quinn. He's already better than those bums ever were.
"Not comparing their overall skillsets but it sure as hell looks like JFF has "Brady Quinn/Charlie Frye/Colt McCoy Syndrome" when throwing the deep ball, inaccurate/underthrown/wounded ducks. Hopefully he grows out of this but I'm skeptical."
Nowhere did I call him Brady Quinn. I'm high on Manziel, except when he's trying to throw the deep ball. Frankly, Hoyer sucks at throwing the deep ball too. Underthrown ducks have been the theme of training camp.
Unless Manziel gets better at this, he's going to be limited to throws under 30 yards, which is fine....a QB can make a living at that, but he shouldn't be cutting it loose deep because a) his arm apparently isn't strong enough to lead a WR on a deep ball and b) he's going to get his WR's killed. Benjamin got cracked pretty hard coming back for that underthrown deep ball. Fortunately, he drew a penalty.
This conversation has been had before and the deep ball isn't the "end all, be all" but it will help opposing defenses game plan for Manziel and condense the field. Kind of opposite of Derek Anderson where people took away the deep ball and forced him to throw short, defenses will try to take away the short game, like they did with Frye/Quinn/McCoy and try to force JFF to beat them over the top.

Manziel can throw the ball deep just fine thank you very much. He's thrown strikes in the preseason and in camp. Last night, he hit Barnadge square on the numbers 40 yards downfield. In college he hit Evans and company in stride for bombs. A couple of passes last night were definitely poorly thrown. So now we label him a guy who can't throw deep? GTFOH. For a raw rookie, the guy has been more than impressive.

The deep ball to Barnidge was a nice pass but it was more of a blind squirrel finding a nut. The rest of your comments are unfounded. His deep ball in camp has looked like shit. Mostly like last night where receivers have to come back for the ball and risk getting killed.Footwedge;1648632 wrote:Manziel can throw the ball deep just fine thank you very much. Hoyer-54.5%
Manziel-50.8%
They both suck, but Manziel sucks slightly more right now.

And our WR's suck more than they do. We're in for another awesome season of losing 17-10 every week.

I like the Gabriel kid and Hawkins but Miles Austin can't be relied on. I think Burleson could make the team just due to the fact he's a veteran. I expect them to pick up at least 2 WR's off someones scrap heap when the final cuts to 53 come down this weekend.Rotinaj;1648641 wrote:And our WR's suck more than they do. I thought they were going to have a solid running game but now I'm skeptical with the shitty WR's & QB's. They are going to be pretty one dimensional, and not necessarily in a good way, unless someone steps up at the receiving position.

We still have Cameron at least. That was Hoyer's favorite target last year. I have a feeling Cameron will be targeted a lot. We just need the running game to open it up for him.

This would suck too. He plays all year and then is suspended for the 2015 season.BR1986FB;1648670 wrote:http://www.si.com/nfl/2014/08/28/josh-gordon-suspension-browns-nfl-legal-options

In this era of the NFL you need to be around 60% plus in the passing game. Most of the QB's are there and above that mark.jmog;1648639 wrote:After 4 preseason games.

I'd take him this year at the risk of losing him for 2015. If he is out all of 2014, I don't think we will ever see him in the NFL again.like_that;1648691 wrote:This would suck too. He plays all year and then is suspended for the 2015 season.

Agreed. Farmer has no excuse going into the 2015 draft not to use a higher pick on a WR. Plus there's still free agency.Al Bundy;1648696 wrote:I'd take him this year at the risk of losing him for 2015. If he is out all of 2014, I don't think we will ever see him in the NFL again.
