According to agent Drew Rosenhaus, Rex Grossman has signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns.

So we were at the Meadows Casino over near Pittsburgh Saturday night. My girlfriend is wearing a Johnny Manziel t-shirt and there are all of these Yinzer pukes wearing their #43's & #7's while the pukes are playing the Giants. This drunk guy, from the area (wearing a Pitt hat, nonetheless) comes up to us and says "Johnny's gonna be good. He's not like Tim Couch. My buddy is a chaplain for the Browns. I hope the effin Steelers lose EVERY game. I hate these asshole fans."
Right after that a Yinzer fan walks by in a jersey and this guy yells "GO GIANTS! Steelers suck!" and we're laughing our asses off because this guy has no idea how much trouble he might stir up.
Was just funny to see someone who lives there hate them so much.

If there is a God they signed Grossman to be the back-up to Johnny and they are shopping Hoyer's drama causing carcass right now. Then maybe he can be informed it's not his team anymore after that shameless press conference he had when he was openly trying to divide the team claiming it was "his". Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Grossman would be a decent backup. Gives experience and knows what it takes to prepare for a game in The League. I always prefer a veteran as a backup.BR1986FB;1643430 wrote:Goodell better be shining up that Lombardi.....

PETTINE just said Manziel and Hoyer will split first team reps Monday Vs Skins. How do yo do that and get in a grove as QB?

Unless he's already made up his mind, which is possible, there's no way Pettine's going to get a firm read on who should be starting before the dress rehearsal (game 3) of preseason. I think they may split reps against the Rams too.shook_17;1643469 wrote:PETTINE just said Manziel and Hoyer will split first team reps Monday Vs Skins. How do yo do that and get in a grove as QB?
Speaking of game 3 (August 23rd).....Downtown Cleveland will be ROCKING with the Tribe having a huge fireworks display, the Browns playing in the biggest preseason game (game 3) of the preseason, the Gladiators playing for the championship in the Arena Bowl and the possibility of Kevin Love becoming a Cav that day.....not that the Love trade would affect the downtown area that night.

That is why starters get almost all the reps in practice and makes it even more important to have a solid vet backup QB. May not be a huge deal in Clev if you arent expected to contend. That is why I think a kid I used to coach wont beat out Taylor to be the backup in Baltimore behind Flacco this season and only be on the practice squad. They would rather have a guy who has some PT in the league over a fresh rookie.
Some QB's just get more out of the offense when they are in there. I tihnk that is where JM wins out for the browns. He may not know the playbook as good or go through his progressions like a QB should, but if he comes in and the whole offense seeme supercharged that is how he will initially win the spot.

If the competition is supposedly too close at this point to name a starter, doesn't that by default mean that Johnny is winning?
If the guy in the absolute prime of his career physically can't decisively beat out a 21 year old rookie then we are wasting our time with him as a starter.
If Johnny is the long term future, then why keep wasting everyone's time with this Hoyer non-sense?

OK, thanks for quoting iQQy, I have him on ignore just because reading his posts are stupid and tiresome. But the whole "Hoyer's drama causing carcass" post was especially hilarious.
