I think any benefit is contingent on Deng being a long-term answer, and I don't think there's any way that's more beneficial than getting a high draft pick and then making moves in free agency.
Salvaging the current season shouldn't be the top priority.
Is this legal under NBA rules? Seems like it would be tampering until the trade was actually made.
