Tickets for the 2013 Champions Classic didn't go on sale until October 1 or thereabouts. Assuming this is similar.
I've never purchased tickets via Stubhub, Ticketmaster or any other way before late September.

Think it was October 1, I tried to get them but they sold out instantly. Guessing this will be the same way.reclegend22;1596141 wrote:Tickets for the 2013 Champions Classic didn't go on sale until October 1 or thereabouts. Assuming this is similar.

Lee would be huge for OSU. This team may miss the tourney next year without him.

Anthony Lee has added Kansas to his list, now that Joel Embiid is gone. Now has 6 schools, with 4 visits planned (OSU today, Iowa St., Indiana) Kansas will be 4. Louisville is still playing, so nothing on that front. He met with Mike Brey in person yesterday as well as Crean and Kenny Johnson of Indiana.
Seems a bit odd, considering Kansas will have Cliff Alexander and possibly Myles Turner...

OSU press release:
March 28, 2014
Ross to Forgo Senior Season to Pursue Professional Basketball Career
COLUMBUS, Ohio-LaQuinton Ross, a junior on the Ohio State men’s basketball team, notified the coaching staff Friday he will forgo his senior year of eligibility to pursue a professional basketball career, Thad Matta, head coach of the Buckeyes, announced.
Ross, a 6-8 forward from Jackson, Miss., led the Buckeyes in scoring with 15.2 points per game this season. He also was the squad’s top rebounder with 5.9 boards a contest. Ross started all 35 games as a junior and appeared in 81 games during his career. He scored a total of 858 career points (10.6 ppg.) on 299 of 662 shooting from the field (.452).
“My experience at Ohio State has been incredible,” Ross said. “Coach Matta, my teammates and the staff were amazing to work with on a daily basis. My goal has always been to play at the next level and I believe now is the best time.”
Matta said Ross made significant contributions during his Ohio State career.
“LaQuinton was an instrumental part of our success over the last three years,” Matta said. “His goal is to compete at the highest level possible. He will have that opportunity because of the work he has put in to prepare for this day. He will be missed at Ohio State and we wish him nothing but the very best.”

Shouldn't be much of a need to go big in conference play. Outside of maybe A.J. Hammons, there isn't much size on the inside in the conference. Kaminsky is 7', but he's a perimeter guy.ohiobucks1;1598120 wrote:Agreed when they go small

Agreed, however, that might be a reason TO go big. We'd have such an advantage over smaller front courts. Especially if Amir can develop any sort of presence at all lol

Lee said when he first announced transferring that he wants to play more at the 4 at his next school and not the 5, which makes me think we'll see him next to Amir and McDonald a pretty good amount. I'm sure there will be times when they go small and make him the 5 though. Will be nice to have at least one big man that can rebound and score though.

I wish Amir would develop, but if he can't catch a pass after all the years of basketball he has played, I have a hard time believing one off season will change that.ohiobucks1;1598127 wrote:Agreed, however, that might be a reason TO go big. Amir Williams and Anthony Lee are a perfect compliment. OSU needs to go to a more traditional offense and start Loving at the 3. Russell is a legit SG. This will create some mismatches that OSU hasn't had in years, IMO. They will have a nice size advantage at every spot. Big question will be PG stability. It's really hard to go far in March without a lights out lead guard...

Sounds like Trevor Thompson is likely to end up at Ohio State. Can't play this year but can plan the 3 following years and is a 7 footer who averaged 5 and 5 for Virginia Tech this year. No idea what his ceiling is but Matta is in "can they play center??? LET'S GET HIM" mode. Can't blame him with how freaking awful Amir Williams has been.

Amir Williams is trash. Ross was trash as well but he's gone so thank god.

There's probably been worse that I don't know about because they didn't play for Ohio State but is Amir Williams the worst McDonald's AA of all time? Shannon Scott hasn't been very good but he's had a unique situation of an established PG one year ahead of him so we'll find out this year if he really does suck, but there is no hope that Amir is even serviceable next year.

I've seen enough of Williams and Scott to realize they won't get much better, but I've been wrong before.
The thought of Scott running the point for all of next season makes me cringe. Does Kam Williams have a shot to take his spot?
