Does he see the writing on the wall or is there something else involved?

He probably realizes he sucks in the American game.

Most likely this. Not a big loss obviously, but really thought if he put in the work he could be a solid player the next 2 years. NBA would never be in his future though so don't blame him for taking the money. Big winner is probably Kam Williams who will probably take his minutes now.wildcats20;1595053 wrote:He probably realizes he sucks in the American game.

Reminds me of Marty Pocius leaving Duke early to go play pro ball in Lithuania. Duke won the title the next year. Ohio State will probably be just fine.
Can't blame kids who have no chance at an NBA career bolting early to take the money overseas. Might as well maximize their time as professionals.

@ESPNDayton 36m Word out of Columbus is that LaQuinton Ross is leaning towards turning pro and could announce as early as Monday...thoughts or reactions?

What is he projected as if he does make the jump? Early 2nd rounder? He has a LOT of potential, but seems to need to work a lot on his game

He's slow, he has no handles, he can't defend, and he isn't a good passer. How is he going to make an impact?
Ohio State is going to be worse without him, but I can't see him sticking as a pro. At least not in this country.

Imo he's 100% gone now. He just saw a guy who rarely played, get signed for 300k. Even if Q goes overseas he's going to make double that. No way he stays.

Ross will end up overseas, still a nice payday though.

As far as ADV, I think he could've been the player we saw in the Nebraska game. Just never really got the opportunity to play extended minutes, even while Lenzelle was out there being terrible.

Euro leagues are a different ball game. I'm sure he'll get plenty of decent looks from teams 6 figure contracts if I were to guess....not bad.

According to a report from Bucknuts' Alex Gleitman, ADV will enter into a multiyear deal with Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia, which will pay him in the neighborhood of $300,000 over that period. Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia are expected to pick up the 100,000 Euros (~$137,000) buyout owed to to Novipiu Casale Monferrato, the Italian professional club who previously owned Della Valle's rights.

You have to remember he was the U-20 Euro Championship MVP only 1 summer ago. And like auto said, European basketball is totally different game. He will probably thrive overseas.

I'd be gone too. Either ride the pine at OSU or get paid to develop in a pro league near your home? Easy decision.

I know its a different game, have a friend who currently plays overseas (Belgium). But ADV just flat out didnt look good to me, 300,000 per year is crazy for someone who struggled to even be worth his scholarship in the B1G lol.
And yeah I dont blame him for bolting for that money either, just surprised hes gettin it

Multi-year deal for $300,000 is what was mentioned. But, nevertheless, still great money.KB0938;1595984 wrote:I know its a different game, have a friend who currently plays overseas (Belgium).
