Frazier did hit .281 w/ RISP. I think he could've got to 100RBI's sandwiched between Votto and Bruce, where he would see pitches. Batting behind Bruce and in front of guys like Cozart and Hanigan, he wasn't getting much to hit. No way Cozy gets there though, he was actually a worse hitter with RISP.

Frazier had 73 RBI's. He hit all over the lineup. I'd bet that Phillips had TWICE the RBI chances he did. Phillips did NOT have a good year.

As for Rodriguez, the 11th best prospect? Really? I'm no expert, but I do follow their minor leagues fairly closely and there's no chance he's #11. Hell, they have 8 guys in A-ball alone who I'd rank higher. Winker, Ervin, Lorenzen, Amir Garrett, Cisco, Stephenson, Travieso, Rahier. Then you have Hamilton and Yorman Rodriguez. Also, guys they just drafted, Lively, Thompson, Franklin, etc. Those are the obvious ones. Many, many others who could be in the top 25...

I'd like to see where you're getting that because 11th is crazy.

Lets also mention that Phillips completely tanked the last 2 months of the season. When the team needed RHB the most, he was nowhere to be found.

Phillips hit way higher with RISP and just eclipsed 100.....I don't think the math supports the claim of Cozy or Frazier getting to 100.

I believe he WILL hold the players way more accountable even though he won't be the intimidating/fiery figure. I believe he is VERY intelligent and will have actual thought out sensible reasons for his much less noticeable madness.

We have to get a hitting approach beyond the 80's.....and someone to teach it. Hopefully we get a couple fiery guys to perform it.

A lot of talk on Twitter of Mack Jenkins being promoted to pitching coach. Nothing concrete though.

I hate the hire. There's been lots of rumors about clubhouse issues and they hire a guy from within the clubhouse.

And here is a quote in that story from Price himself about how things changed after he became pitching coach for the Reds:
“This team hadn’t been in the playoffs for 15 years,” Price said. “There was room for improvement and room for change. I think for a guy like me, with 16 years of player-development experience as a player and coach, one thing you get when you’re in the Minor Leagues is the importance of fundamentals and accountability. I don’t have any idea what it was like here before, and I don’t imagine it was that much different. I do know that if somebody does something they shouldn’t do, we’ll call them out on it. Don’t cover first base or don’t hold runners close, don’t back up bases — when they come back into the dugout, they’re going to hear about it.”

This doesn't worry me in the least. The pitchers said they were held accountable by Price. What Dusty did with the other players in the clubhouse has nothing to do with the pitching coach.

I agree and glad someone mentioend it before I broke down the numbers!

All other things behing equal, if Frazier was in BP's spot all season, got the same opportunites and hit the same with RISP as he did this season he doesnt get to 100 RBI's,
but that is neither here nor there.

BP filled in admirably in the 4 hole. He hit well with RISP, drove in runs, and did what was asked.

Seems like he is a clubhous cancer. I remember 2/3 through the season reports that the clubhouse was in disarray but not real details as to why. The telling quote I read the other day was BP was happy if he went 3-4 and the team lost but mad if he went 0-3 and the team won. Yeah, I get it that you are disappointed if you didnt play well, but the overwhelming feeling should be positive when the team wins.


Price as the manager. Heard he was not afraid to get into the pitchers faces when they fucked up. IF he does that to the rest of the players when they mess up and is more firey then I think it isnt a bad idea. He of course would need a pitching coach, and get a hitting coach as well.

As LeCleur said a few weeks ago......you know what you get with his as a pitching coach, but not as a manager.


Most reports stated that everyone wanted Chapman as a starter, except for DB. Maybe he will get the chance to start. Same situation as Price as the manager though. I want to see AC as a starter. I realize it could blow up in our faces, but I also believe he can be a randy johnson type. As a starter he will be able to develope his secondary pitches much better than as a closer. As a closer you dont have enough time facing batters to mess around with his other pitches. Y

Hitting Coach: Paul O'Neill

I think Mack Jenkins is a safe guess. Paul was apparently in contact with the Reds at some point after the Dusty firing. He seems like a guy that could potentially make a great hitting coach. He still lives in the city even though he works for the Yankees. I could see it happening and would absolutely love it.

Plus, didnt Paul Oneill hit two homeruns for some little sick kid in the hospital when he played for the yanks....one being an inside the parker?
