This is too bad. I really liked Justin. He is only 28. Barring injury, he has over half a decade of years he should be good.
They might as well trade him now. Why wait until midseason? His value is higher if you give a team a full season of him.

I've got no problem if they put him out there. Use the money to extend Kip or Brantley. Maybe you can get Ubaldo back. This kind of stuff, and the success or failure is how Antonetti earns his money.

Article today in the PD touting Aguillera (sp) as the next Albert Belle. Apparently he mashed 20 homers in winter ball. Have to look him up and see what position he plays.

Equipment trucks are rolling south....pitchers and catchers report in 10 days.
Hey Chris....can we get Ubaldo back?
Chances for that may be fading...rumors are that the Indians covet the draft pick they would get if he's signed away....somewhere between #33 and 36. Unless of course it is the Blue Jays who would only have to forfeit a second rounder....and of course it is shaping up that the BJs are the favorite to get UJ.

This kind of idiocy doesn't surprise me at all considering who it is coming from. How do you not look at that and say "yeahhhh...not good"?Heretic;1576706 wrote:And we have a frontrunner for the Ill-Advised Hashtag of the Year for 2014!

good article on the Ubaldo Jimenez situation....
http://msn.foxsports.com/ohio/story/ubaldo-jimenez-do-the-indians-want-him-back-020414
If Masterson doesn't want the extension UJ at the right price would be a good front of the rotation move.
3 years at $36 Million.....do it.

Going to Arbitration for the first time since like 1991. Vinnie asking alot after an injured season. We shall see.

Tribe has ulterior motive with taking guys to arbitration.... Front office thinks agents are asking for more than they should because of the team's history of avoiding it.

Indians won their arbitration case with vinnie. 3 other players still possible, I think being masterson, tomlin, and Brantley.

Of those three, only Brantley has a ' very good chance' of winning....

Ha not much discussion on the Tribe recently. With all the other sports in Cleveland a mess, this upcoming season is what I am most excited for. My Company has already asked who wants opening day tickets, so I should be attending my 3rd in a row. So thinking of the starting lineups (assuming no injuries):
C- Gomes
1B - Swisher
2B - Kipnis
SS - Cabrera/ Aviles when Drubs is traded
3B - Santana/ Chisenhall
LF - Brantley
C - Bourn
RF - Rayburn/ ?
Starting 5:
1) Masterson
2) Kluber
3) Mcalister
4) Salazar
5) Carrasco/Tomlin/Outman/ ???
The question is whether we can sustain the same success with this pitching staff.
What say you HitsRus?

Obviously they'll start with a Rayburn/Murphy platoon in right. I think the starting rotation is fine... But history shows a need for depth. I'd really like to see Ubaldo inked for a three year deal as a move to add depth and to hedge against Masterson leaving for FA next year. I'd like to see one of them locked in for a couple of years.

Really hoping Bauer makes the leap this year towards consistency. We don't need him to be an ace, but if he gives us 3rd or 4th quality starter stuff he could be useful for that depth you're referring to Hits.
I doubt that happens, and he'll probably be in AAA but I'm just wishfully thinking.

That pitching has a lot of unknowns. Makes me nervous.iclfan2;1578110 wrote:Ha not much discussion on the Tribe recently. If Santana can play a decent 3B that would be a huge plus in terms of flexibility, but I'll believe it when I see it... 3B is one of the hardest positions on the diamond.

I played 3B in HS and 2B/SS growing up and I don't agree at all.HitsRus;1578142 wrote:3B is one of the hardest positions on the diamond.
I think it's hard to be amazing defensively (like a Rolen) at the position but not hard to be competent.

I really think our starting pitching will be ok. I really look for Salazar to take off. His stuff is electric and has damn good control. He sometimes pounds the strike zone a little too much.

Didn't he start at 3B coming up? Which either means there wasn't room with the team he was with at 3B or he sucked.HitsRus;1578142 wrote:If Santana can play a decent 3B that would be a huge plus in terms of flexibility, but I'll believe it when I see it... 3B is one of the hardest positions on the diamond.

The only thing I worry about with Salazar is how straight the fastball is. I don't knowing you can really teach movement without losing a decent amount of velocity.

This, a 100mph fastball isn't that mean looking if its straight and flat or you have no off speed pitches that hitters need to worry about. i'd rather see Salazar in the bullpen where he only faces a few batters and doesn't go through the order more than once. last year he was great for 4 or 5 innings, then he started giving up bombs.Laley23;1578398 wrote:The only thing I worry about with Salazar is how straight the fastball is.
