I was there...with my brother. And lol on the

Basically bought out his arbitration years plus 1 or 2 if they exercise the club options.

Kind of surprised in a way they had such urgency to lock him up given his small track record, but I guess they are banking he is going to really take off this year and the deal will look like a bargain compared to what he would get in arbitration going forward.

Curious that Antonetti shut down talks with Masterson 10 days ago because he didn't want it to become a distraction at the beginning of the season....but he was able to go right up until opening day for Gomes. That said...I think this is a great move.

I think once it became clear that Masterson wasn't going to settle for the deal Ubaldo signed then the Tribe had to make it look like he was the unreasonable one so they cut off negotiations.

With Gomes they had no problem negotiating because it was for relative peanuts when you look at the yearly contract values.
