I agree with this. They do have average talent but they are scrappy and have gotten hot at the right time.Con_Alma;1511197 wrote:All year I have said this team has average talent. I still say that's the case. No superstars. Average individuals. I am impressed with the job Francona has done.
What I was wrong about was their ability to win the number of games they have. I don't believe I am wrong about their talent level.
They have performed incredibly in September...a great time to get hot. Lets hope it continues.

Yeah...agree, but the starting pitching was well above average. And the bullpen really straightened out once vinnie was gone....other than perezBR1986FB;1511199 wrote:I agree with this. They do have average talent but they are scrappy and have gotten hot at the right time.

It's the strength of the team by far. The only over achieving group.wes_mantooth;1511200 wrote:Yeah...agree, but the starting pitching was well above average....

As long as your pitching is hot, you have a chance. IMO the Giants outside of Buster Posey have a pretty average lineup and they have now own 2 titles with that lineup.

Every team in the playoffs has a "chance"....some have better odds of winning than others based on their talent level.

Kasich called the Reds before last nights game. Somebody steal this gas bag's cell phone before tonight's game.

The Rays also have a pretty average lineup outside of Longoria.like_that;1511213 wrote:As long as your pitching is hot, you have a chance. IMO the Giants outside of Buster Posey have a pretty average lineup and they have now own 2 titles with that lineup.

I guess we have to fund our free agent spending somehow?

I think that's a product of the Indians setting regular season prices while MLB setting playoff ticket process.

Yeah, exactly. Say what you want about the organization, but when it came to "bang for your buck", they went out of their way to try to get people in the park.Con_Alma;1511268 wrote:"...Tickets for a Cleveland Indians game during the Division Series cost nearly 700 percent more than the regular season. ..."

I don't disagree with this at all. Please don't see my post as bashing the organization. I love the tribe, the Browns, and the Cavs. I always have, and I always will. I was simply reading on Yahoo! and thought that the article was interesting and that you guys might enjoy it.wes_mantooth;1511275 wrote:Yeah, exactly. Unfortunately, due to the price increase, I will not be able to attend any playoff games this year.

I wasn't seeing it as that. I think a lot of people don't realize that the MLB sets the pricing in the postseason. And honestly, paying 105 bucks for two shitty upper seats had me really considering flipping them and watching from home.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1511286 wrote:I don't disagree with this at all. I dont think this team is average. They arent loaded by any means. But
Bourn is above average CF and leadoff man
Swisher is average 1B
Kipnis is an AS 2B. Easily above average and probably one of the top 3 2B in baseball
Santana is an average DH/C. Depending on position, his offense takes him to above average.
Raburn is tough to call cause he doesnt play every day
Gomes is above average C
Brantley is a well above average LF. Probably the second closest thing to a star as we have to Kip. I would say he should win the GG
Asdrubal below average SS
Aviles/Chisenhall are both below average 3B
Stubbs is a below average RF
Starting pitching is WAY above average as is the pen. We have a top 5 rotation and without looking at numbers, Id say a top 10 pen with our main guys being a little better than that.

agreed. Average teams go .500, not win 92 games.Laley23;1511303 wrote:I dont think this team is average. They arent loaded by any means. But

Collectively the team clearly isn't average. That's all that really matters I guess. It is the total team performance that gets them into the playoffs. Consider that if they lose only 10 games more than they did they would be at .500. 10 games is a lot....the exact amount of their winning streak to end the season.
Thank God their impressive run in September has put them in position to let their pitching carry them.
