BTW, if the reds don't pull this game out, who do you say won the Choo trade after one season?

I had no issue with choo being gone. He was ok, but for some reason I didn't give a shitlike_that;1510980 wrote:BTW, if the reds don't pull this game out, who do you say won the Choo trade after one season?

I didn't either, because he was playing like shit for the tribe. Seemed like he could never shake off the DUI saga.

Even. Reds were ready to make a WS run and he fit the exact position needed. OF 5-tool player. Tribe was more in rebuild, not gonna re-sign him mode. As it turns out, we werent in rebuild, but with Choo on this team we dont sniff the playoffs because the haul we got back was amazing.like_that;1510980 wrote:BTW, if the reds don't pull this game out, who do you say won the Choo trade after one season?
As above, we got a shit ton for him. If it had been a bad trade, I wouldve been upset. But when we got as much back as we did, I was ecstatic. We fucked Arizona over bigtime.wes_mantooth;1511007 wrote:I had no issue with choo being gone. He was ok, but for some reason I didn't give a shit
Not sure we make the playoffs without Shaw and Albers in the bullpen, especially Shaw. Fucking stud in September (and all year) when we needed every single outing of his to be awesome.

I don't care who won or lost on that trade...the Tribe had a hell of a turnaround season. Even if the Reds take an early exit and the Tribe goes deep, I don't feel the need to rub anything in, although I'm not sure Tribe fans would have received the same courtesy if tables were reversed. The only thing that matters is that the Indians were much improved, even without Choo who would be gone after this year anyway. Drew Stubbs was productive at times even if not spectacular, we got some good relievers out of the deal, and we still have a highly rated pitching prospect. When all is said and done...after 162 games, the Tribe is one of the best teams in the American league, instead of one of the worst.
I can't say that I've heard anyone , on any Tribe thread this year say that they missed Choo.....never...not once.

Numbers vs. Cobb
Bourn .143 1/7
Brantley .000 0/5
Cabrera .250 2/8
Chiz .333 1/3
Kip .167 1/6
Santana .429 3/7
Swish .300 3/10
Raburn .375 3/8
Hopefully Raburn is in there even though its a righty/righty match-up. 3/8 is a large enough sample size for me!

Good Luck tomorrow to the Indians.....should be a very good game. I think the winner of this game gives Boston fits, or at least I hope.

Aviles is like 0/9. Whoever Tweeted earlier forgot his numbers vs. Cobb. I wont be upset either way with him. Gomes and Raburn have to be in there though.iclfan2;1511110 wrote:Raburn, Aviles, Gomes, all have to be starting tomorrow. HAVE TO
Id go:
Bourn - CF
Swisher - 1B
Kipnis - 2B
Santana - DH
Brantley - LF
Raburn - RF
Cabrera - SS
Gomes - C
Chisenhall - 3B
Giambi pitch hits anytime after the 5th inning if we have guys on base for Chizenhall and Stubbs pinch runs for anyone not fast if we are losing in the 7/8/9

Ugh. Now that I look, I really dont want Chiz playing. Aviles at 3B is what I would do.

Bold move to go with 2 right fielders and no 3rd baseman.

Raburn wont play tomorrow. Gomes hits eighth and Aviles bats ninth. The rest of the line up will be lefties.iclfan2;1511110 wrote:Raburn, Aviles, Gomes, all have to be starting tomorrow. HAVE TO
Bourn (CF), Swisher (RF), Kipness (2B), Santana (1B), Brantley (LF), Cabrerra (SS), Giambi (DH), Gomes (C), Aviles (3B).
Cobb is about 30 points worse (BA) against lefties this year,

I dont like not having Giambi to pinch hit late in the game, in a 1 and done format. Id rather go with a righty and be able to use him when you want to use him...even if its in the 5th inning or something.

....agree with keeping Giambi on the bench for PHing. Batting average is .191...and if he gets on via a single, he'll be clogging up the basepaths. You want to be able to insert him at any given time when a big hit could break open/win a ballgame.

I keep day dreaming that francona gets pay back on his old team. Would be awesome. Don't want to get ahead of myself though. Gotta get this one tonight!Ironman92;1511070 wrote:Good Luck tomorrow to the Indians.....should be a very good game. I think the winner of this game gives Boston fits, or at least I hope.

I'll be extremely disappointed if I see Giambi starting in a one game playoff.

All year I have said this team has average talent. I still say that's the case. No superstars. Average individuals. I am impressed with the job Francona has done.Footwedge;1510781 wrote:Well Con, when are you gonna admit you were wrong? All year you've chided how average this team is. 92 wins says you are wrong...wrong...wrong. Course I said the same thing a month ago.
What I was wrong about was their ability to win the number of games they have. I don't believe I am wrong about their talent level.
They have performed incredibly in September...a great time to get hot. Lets hope it continues.

You won't find a post with me being ticked about that trade at all.
