Didn't you read what I wrote? A crime rate is measured on a per capita basis. The homicide rate is the determiner of how dangerous a particular place is. Chicago's is high - I'm not suggesting it's not. But it is far from the most dangerous in the country. Citing a total number only compares apples to oranges.

I read this...The rate of homicide in Chicago isn't even close to the highest of large cities. I think New Orleans or Detroit has a much, much higher murder rate than Chicago.

Why that is, I'm not sure. If I had to guess it's probably that demand for firearms is way more elastic than demand for drugs.

And no where in the article did it say it measures "murder capitals" in per capita, like you said.

It says Chicago is the new murder capital. If they measured it in per capita, it would be Flint, MI. But Flint, MI isn't the new murder capital.

LoL no I don't. I have no desire to "ban" guns. Better regulation, background checks and competitive market pricing, and other things maybe. But, the point is that it has been effective where it has been tried on a national level and firearm enthusiasts refuse to accept that because they don't want to concede that point to teh librulz. People dying unnecessarily at the hands of guns is the cost of freedom and they don't want to make that argument. It is what it is.

Drugs are a lot easier to manufacture for criminals. A couple tweekers can manufacture crack in a car while driving down the road.
Guns are produced by big companies for "C&C, belly & friends" to buy legally. Since theirs lots and lots of "C&C, belly and friends" wanting guns theirs lots and lots of gun stores.
Criminals obtain their guns illegally, most of which have been stolen from "C&C, belly and friends" directly or the stores themselves.

We all know criminals don't care about laws. It's ironic that "C&C, belly and friends" supply the guns to the criminals.

I would also argue that the countries who have banned guns do not share a border with Mexico. Getting a gun across the border will be just as easy as getting drugs across the border. So unless we wanna really tighten our border security guns will still be easy to get from south of the border. If guns are illegal and a criminal wants one they will find a way or use a different weapon.

I never said per capita. I simply said it is the murder capital. The articles show it is the murder capital of the US. There are more murders in Chicago then any other city in America.

Indeed. Murica really is a special case. Cat is pretty much out of the bag. Unless the Tea Party's greatest fantasy comes true and Obummer starts sending his drones to go collect all the guns out there, etc. I don't see it to very likely that this shit levels off.
