wow...just wow....Cody Allen almost undid an entire game.
Geez...we need some offense....3 solo HRs and a 'stolen' run.
Yan Gomes has taken over the catcher's spot. One week ago Tito said we don't have a 'back up' catcher...just two regular catchers. He needs to amend that now...we do have a 'back up' catcher...and he wears #41.
Drew Stubbs has taken over wearing the Druby Cabrera "I'm clueless" at the plate hat. Before he hit that infield chop, he had struck out 6 times in a row....getting the Golden Sombrero for yesterday's 4 'K' performance.
Anybody want to do over the trade that brought Ubaldo to Cleveland? Drew Pomerantz just has been activated from the disabled list. He has made 4 appearances with the Rockies this year and sports an 8.10 ERA. Alex White had Tommy John surgery in April......

I was thinking about this on my drive home listening to the game. Ubaldo is who I want on the mound if they make the wildcard play off. Keep him on a short string, 5 innings and supplement him with someone who throws hard like Salazar to finish the game.HitsRus;1498189 wrote:

Ubaldo has been awesome. Still dont understand why we had to give up 2 high prospects (pitching no less) for him though.
Hindsight being 20-20, we got the better end. But, at time of the trade, the Rockies still won on paper (imo).
Im just glad our prospects suck for someone else for once instead of theirs sucking for us.

He has pitched very well lately. Last I heard on the radio yesterday he hadn't given up a walk. That alone is an improvement for him compared to earlier in the year.

You mean the most statistically likely scenario from that trade played out? Color me shockedHitsRus;1498189 wrote:

(this post is for footwedge, to whom I can officially tell to s*ck a d*ck now because we viciously disagreed over the trade when it happened).
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it starts with this article

He's been great; hopefully he can finish strong. On Monday, he struck out 10 batters and has posted a 2.63 ERA (32 ER/109.2 IP) over his last 19 starts dating to May.

Ubaldo has Kd 10+ batters without a walk in 2 of his last 3 starts. He had never dont that before.

Tonight's game is huge, IMO. They all are I know, but I don't wanna be facing Big Game James for the series win tomorrow. Would much rather face him going for a sweep where a win is gravy. I think he is going to be dominant his last 4-5 starts.

I was another that was totally against the Ubaldo trade. Right now, the way he has pitched, we screwed them big time. But both of the guys we traded are still young. Hopefully he keeps this up, because he has been dominant over his last 9 starts.
I read somewhere that the Indians are one of three ML teams that has a pitching staff with more strike outs than hits allowed. That's pretty impressive. They also own the second best ERA since the All Star break. KC has the best.
Bring home a win Hits!

Indians lose, but so do the Rays and O's. Rangers down midway through their game, too. Today would've been a good day to make some ground.

Tough loss and now we get Big Game James tomorrow.
A win there would go a LONG way not only short term, but long term (looking ahead to the road series vs the Royals coming up).

yeah...gotta beat down the Royals. They were playing very aggressively last nite while we seemed to be back on our heels. We had 12 hits...but hit into 3 rally killing DP's.
We need another gem from Kazmir today.

I noticed this too, especially Kipnis. He'd let great pitches go early in the count, and then flail away at pitches out of the zone. You could tell he knew it as well.HitsRus;1498893 wrote: They were playing very aggressively last nite while we seemed to be back on our heels.

Great response from the Tribe to get 2 in the bottom half.
Then a great bounce back inning from Kazmir, 1-2-3, with help from Kip on a nice over the shoulder, running catch.
3-2 Royals after 1.5

Well, predictably, James Shields has settled in and looks pretty much unhittbale since the 1st.
