I think con alma may be right when it comes to the casual fan who makes their entertainment decisions more spontaneously. The situation is different for season ticket holders though. those people make commitments by the year(s). You piss them off and they don't renew..... It is really the season ticket holders that form the large base that gives consistent large crowds. The Tribe probably has only about 1/3 the base it use to have. It probably will take a year or two to rebuild that base, and I don't think it will ever get back to close what it once was.
Yesterday's 'crowd' of 9600 probably represents the season ticket base plus about 800-1000 people who chose the Tribe for the 'entertainment' last nite.

Yeah we aren't talking solely "casual fans" though. Thus I stand by my statement.

For the record, there isnt a whole lot wrong with the CC trade.

We got a GREAT haul for him, on paper, and Milwaukee only had him for half a year (and while they DID make the playoffs, look where they are now because of that trade).

LaPorta, Brantley, Zack Jackson and Bryson for 2.5 months of CC Sabathia was a VERY good trade. If LaPorta turned into anything, and Brantley was the secondary player (like 99% of the world thought would happen), we would be praising the deal.

Cliff Lee on the other hand...everyone knew it was a salary dump and that we didnt get shit in return, when, in theory, we should have gotten a CC type deal PLUS another top 10 prospect in the Phils organization.

FUCK THAT DEAL!

Yes. With Columbus. Cleveland's AAA farm club.

Must have been hurt a good portion of the year, as he has rookie-league at bats and only about 50 games worth of playing at Columbus. And his numbers there weren't much better than they've been with Cleveland (.238 with 10 homers).

Btw I love this lineup w/ Gomes, Rayburn, and Aviles in. If Brantley was in right instead of Stubbs, it'd be perfect

As I typed that, Rayburn with a 2rbi double and Aviles with an RBI single. 4-0 tribe. I live right by the stadium Shapiro, and my weeknights are open, I can fill in for Terry whenever you'd like!

Nice win...Bourn can sure track 'em down in the outfield, now if he only could hit...Gomes is a stud.

The Tribe are set up quite nicely right now as far as the remaining schedule goes. Down to only 3 games back in the wild card.

The Yankees have come out of no where and are now only 2 out after being dead in the water about 2-3 weeks ago.

Still plenty of games to play, but the remaining schedule is a huge advantage for the Tribe. NY will be playing Boston/Baltimore/Tampa 13 times in the next 3 weeks.

Easy to laugh now. But they seriously got a pretty damn good haul, on paper, for a guy who pitched for less than 3 months for Milwaukee.

There was a very strong "who cares what the fans think" vibe coming out of East 9th and Carnegie, and that rubbed alot of people the wrong way. There are some who haven't gotten over it.
I've heard the complaints. I just don't understand it.

I don't care if the Dolans care what I think or not. I hope the Dolans make billions.

I decided to go to the ballpark not based on how much money the Dolans are putting in their pockets or not but rather will I be entertained for the price of the ticket. That's all that really matters.

...which is exactly why I posted that I don't understand those that are making decisions based on other factors.

If it's not all about the entertainment value, What's it about? Because it's an entertainment industry. by approaching it in any other manner but entertainment would be by definition not having an accurate perspective on the sports industry. Can you help me better understand where you might think that's incorrect?
